Simple and Effective!
Finally something that works! I struggled without success for 3 months with multiple products/traps/bait. You don't have to use the install kit, it was out of stock when I ordered traps, but eventually I got one and it's worth the small investment. It was challenging to find the "active tunnels" which caused me to have to move and set the traps frequently. I had so many issues setting traps that I previously purchased, it was as much of a nuisance as the moles! These traps are effortless, the scissor style they offer is super easy as well. I caught 5 in only a month. If you find an active tunnel, this trap will do the job! If you aren't having success, you've probably placed it in an inactive tunnel. Don't be discouraged, the most difficult challenge can be finding the active tunnel. Check with your fingers beneath the surface the direction of the tunnel and set trap accordingly. I wear gloves because I was told human scent is a deterrent.

easy and effective
i have what i assumed was a vole problem. visible tunnels indicated by lines of dead grass all over my yard. bought 2 traps plus the install kit. started off with just putting 1 trap out just to see how it works. super easy to install. located a raised dirt spot along one of the straight paths, stuck the rod, from the installation kit, in the mound and it plunged in. cut a hole with the hole cutter, from the installation kit, and installed the trap. filled in around the trap a little bit with the dirt removed with the cutter. whole process took about 30 seconds. about 2 minutes later my wife said she heard a snap in the back yard. I checked the trap, and lo-and-behold, i caught a vole. Reset the trap and left it overnight. the next day, another vole caught. reset the trap in the same location, 2 hours later, another vole. Now i am more confident in the trap, so i set the other one up in a different location, and I ordered 2 more. i think the trick is to locate the "runways". they are like highways they use to go to and from a den. they will be long paths that may zig zag around trees or other forms of cover for them. i chose a path that lead from a round spot of dead grass, all the way through my yard and into a preserve behind my house. they probably use this to leave the yard and forage for food to bring back to the den. other paths in the yard seem to come to a dead end. these are just exploratory paths that they eventually abandon. to be sure of this, step on one of the paths to collapse it in. check it the next day. if it is raised up again, then it is an active tunnel and you can set a trap anywhere along it. GET THE INSTALLATION KIT WITH IT. it is worth it and makes installing the traps super easy. then you can always buy more traps****update: I have discovered what I am catching are actually shrews. They are using the existing vole tunnels to find food. I have been finding the traps lying over, or pushed out of the tunnels completely. I think the voles are doing this because they are a bit bigger. Trap may be too lightweight for them. Dont know how effective they are with moles/voles yet because I actually haven’t caught one. Deducting a star****another update. Found a fresh mound. Set the trap and caught a mole. Not a vole, not a shrew. Wasn’t expecting a mole. Still catching shrews in a different part of my yard. I think they have taken up residence in abandoned tunnels. I think the trick to catching the mole was setting it deeper to make sure the entire hole was leading into the trap. Digging too shallow only uncovers part of the hole and they have to redig which pushes dirt into the trap and trips it. i have caught only 1 more shrew since catching the mole, and there has been no more activity. still have the traps set in random parts of my yard. changing back to 5 starts

Will find out
I am impressed on how this works as far as how it is set and placed. I am using it on moles. I just set it up so have not caught anything yet but I think this is the trap that will work very well for the moles. I have many runs where the moles do not make much of a notice on the top of the ground. This can get right down to where they are actually going. My only concern is that is it made of plastic and will it be durable, hence the 4 stars. I will update later once I get a mole.UPDATE: I have now caught 2 moles. Both were a little smaller. Not sure how it will be on bigger moles. Based on my results, I would highly recommend this trap for moles. The design of it just makes a lot of sense. It is also very easy to set and place. If it was just a little bigger, it would be an amazing trap.UPDATE: I have now caught 4 moles with these, including one big one. What sometimes happens is that a mole pushes dirt into trigger and sets it off without being caught. Overall, pleased with this trap and easy to set.

Good product
Easy to install. Works great. Got a vole after 2 tries.

Not very useful
Was hoping this product would help me out with my gopher infestation but unfortunately it never caught one. They would have to be pretty small gophers for this product to work correctly.

Works Very Well When Placed at the Vole Hole Entrance
This device works really well for catching voles. Placement seems to be the key to success. At the entrance to the hole, dig out the front of the hole just a little. Then push the trap down at the entrance so that the small rim of the base is buried, the opening of the trap is positioned so the vole can see out of the hole and light enters the hole. Backfill dirt around the hole so that only the trap hole is accessible to the vole. You may have to wait a few days, but if the voles are active at that entrance they should be caught overnight.

Easy to use but useless
I love that the digger part makes a nice deep hole over the tunnel and the trap sits above with a low profile but fittingly and without any light sipping in. It’s an easy and reassuring trap setting. The problem is that it gets triggered but nothing gets caught in. I think the trap is either weak or the opening and the trigger not well thought out. I wish it would work but unfortunately it didn’t for me.

Better than gopher hawk traps!
I purchased this trap, and a couple gopher hawk traps. This trap has way outperformed the gopher hawks! The gopher hawks inner metal parts easily bend and honestly I’ve only caught 1 gopher between the 2 of them. My son and I have each caught multiple gophers with just this one super cat trap. Purchasing another one today and throwing out the gopher hawks!
