Amana Tool51454-Z SC Spiral O Single Flute ZrN Coated Aluminum Cutting 1/8 D x 1/2 CH x 1/4 SHK x 2 Inch Long Up-Cut Router Bit with Mirror Finish

I needed to cnc mill about 1/4" thick aluminum. I was worried about clogging and started to get a little bit of this at the end of my cutting but I made it thru everything i needed to do. Pay attention to feed and spindle speed and also make sure your cut chips have somewhere to go. I surrounded the piece i cut with short boards making a box around the piece to catch the flying chips which you need to do because they are sharp as little knives! use some air to blow the chips away from the cut too. My clogging began to happen when the bit sunk deepest into the cut unable to spit out the cut pieces i assume led to some melting and clogging. First passes were perfect, the deepest pass are the ones to watch.

Did I mention thee are sharp?... I just bumped while reaching in to change the bit on my CNC and gave myself a weeks long reminder to watch out. These are being used on HDPE on my CNC and the cut is awesome. I don't think I have used them with Aluminum yet which was my intended project when I bought them. Will try to update after using on Aluminum.

I use this on my shaoeoko CNC with the DeWalt router. This bits cuts Aluminum very well. It got my project done. So it was worth it.

Love these little bits. With O Flute pushing chips up the center of the bit I have less concern about chips re-cutting in tight places. The surface finish of cuts from this bit is very good.

Lasted 30 seconds trimming brass 1/16 deep not a good bit for that
