A Must Have for Traditional Southern Cooks!
I concur with other Five-Star reviewers on almost all counts as to the quality and attractiveness of the stoneware crock I received. I got the white which is a soft white, like old-fashioned diner crockery.True, it is on the large side size-wise (6 cups), and that's a whole lot of bacon frying. However, the size is very convenient for the cook who is simply collecting grease for periodic disposal. The crock itself is well made, and the lid (of a nice weight), while not airtight, sits properly with no wobble or slide. I'll probably just lay some plastic wrap across the opening before putting the lid on to keep the odd fridge smell at bay, or not. I've never had an issue with that, even keeping grease in unlidded Mason jars.I was very impressed with the fineness of the screen in the strainer. If you've ever had a mesh tea ball, that's the gauge I'm talking about--superfine. There will be zero oddments of burned bacon in any grease passed through that sieve. This is a major upgrade from the little lidded aluminium cans that used to be sold (and maybe somewhere still are) as stovetop accessories. My mother had one with matching salt and pepper shakers. Remember those? Those containers were never quite big enough. One was forced to put empty veg cans into service, and of course that grease got wasted. This crock is much nicer, bigger, and certainly way cooler than my Mason jars, which are now in retirement. Happy Cooking!

Great choice!
I read all of the other reviews for this product and others, I decided on this one for the clean, streamlined look and decent size. I am very happy with my decision. I didn't have any of the issues mentioned in the other reviews. It arrived in perfect condition. The strainer fits fine. It cleans up well, and looks great, very unobtrusive sitting on the counter. A handle would make using it easier, but I chose this one without the handle because it would fit better on the counter, so aesthetics won out over practicality.

You need this if you want to save your grease
I purchased this when starting keto, everyone kept raving about how you needed to save your bacon grease and I thought this would work well instead of just a regular old mason jar since it had the metal strainer on it, and I was right. It works great. Looks nice on the counter top. I didn't grow up in a household where there were any particularly good cooks and of course none of them used bacon grease for anything, so I had no experience with saving or using it. But I'm glad I started. It makes it super handy to use in cooking, I reach for this now instead of olive oil when making eggs, sauteing and for brushing on veggies for roasting. The strainer on top works really well, catches all of the food bits and cleans off easily. I love it

Nice, solid, and huge
For the last few years, I've been stashing my bacon grease in an old 24oz coffee mug in the fridge and while that works just fine, it was frequently prone to other flying bits and crumbs getting in and going rancid, as well as the occasional fly in the summer ruining the whole batch. So I've been looking for a slightly larger, covered, and self straining container for a while when one of my keto blogs suggested this one, I picked it up minutes later.Overall, I've been very happy with both the quality of this rather hefty jar. The removable strainer is fantastic at keeping those fine bits of bacon from getting in and the lid fits well enough that I won't have to worry about any, ahem, uninvited guests. My only real complaints so far is that the lid doesn't really screw, snap, or "seal" on somehow to keep extra air out and that I wish I had given more attention to the volume of this beat. In my two weeks of use so far, I've barely been able to fill up the bottom 1/4th of this thing after cooking more than 7lbs of bacon. While I don't regret the purchase, I'm just not sure how practical something of this size is in the long run for someone who isn't cooking 20lbs of bacon monthly. If there were a smaller, half-sized version of this thing, I would buy it up in a heartbeat.

You NEED this, especially the nifty screen (see photo) Buy it!
Penny for your thoughts...er, I mean my thoughts. I may be the dumbest person to buy this but I never knew that this (see photo) is what the SCREEN LOOKED LIKE, which keeps your lard clean...I plan to place a coffee filter on it to see if that makes it even better. Read the comment about the screen falling inside...well. apparently that's fixed. Mine is slightly bigger than the I.D. Looks to be just about perfect. Give me time to try it out on my keto breakfast tomorrow. Buy it. Buy it because you NEED IT!UPDATEBefore using it the first time, I accidentally dropped the lid while washing it...it shattered. So sad...Has anyone else accidentally broken the lid because it slipped out of your hands? So, after ordering a metal bacon grease container with sieve...I have some thoughts to share. 1.) It should be small enough in diameter to inconspicuously sit out in the open or under the stove. This product is massive. Negative marks on this point. 2.) When it is time to clean, it should be easy to clean. Positive marks here. 3. When you wash it (occasionally), it should not break, slip out of your hands. Negative marks...mine broke. 4.) If it fall onto the floor as it is greasy, it shouldn't break. BIG negatives here. CONCLUSIONSIt is only a matter of time before it breaks!I do not recommend this product.

For the point in your life when you decide you need a grease bucket
I like it, it works well. I use it to strain and store deep fryer oil. It's much more stable and easy to use than my usual jug, funnel, coffee filter technique. The strainer is easily removed and cleaned, and works pretty well. I'm not too sure how it will handle the finer sediment, so I don't completely upend the fryer into it, just pour to get most of the oil, and leave most of the debris in the fryer. I have a 1.1 liter fryer, just under 4 cups, and that fills this to within about 1" below the bottom of the strainer insert. Would work well for small cooking quantities of rendered animal fat, or for small deep fryer. Anything bigger and you'll need more then one.

La coladera no ajusta en el recipiente
La coladera es más pequeña que el recipiente y por lo tanto no cumple la función de filtrar el aceite. Es una lastima porque está bonito el tarro.

Too Big!
The Grease Keeper, is too big! The screen is great, better than any other I've seen. No, I wouldn't recommend this Grease Keeper.
