Impressively well made. Do not wash!
First, I am tall and curvy. I wear an 18/20 easily. When someone outlaws boobs and hips, I will be in trouble.I have bought XL and XXL stuff before that came from India or China that must have been sized for the petite ladies of those countries. I wanted this to fit, but did not expect it to. It did. Beautifully. Also, I sew. I know good or shoddy work when I see it. I am very impressed that not only is every raw edge hemmed or serged, but that (at least on the blue one), it is not just an all over pattern. The bias edge and hem is a separate strip of fabric with a corresponding pattern, but very well sewn with a denim stitch, like you see on the outer seam of your jeans pants leg. It would have been easier to just put a basic seam, which would have caused the border to turn backward unless you press it every time, but they took the effort to put a sturdy, flat stitch so it would lie properly.Open vent armpits. Everyone seems to freak out about them but they are there for a reason, and they are hemmed also. If the sleeves were stitched all round to attach to the bodice, they would not drape or hang as they do, which is the whole reason you bought it in the first place. Second, they give easier access to the traditional kimono sleeve pockets, which are easier to get to if you reach inside like you would reaching into the inside breast pocket of a jacket. It is not sheer, but light weight. I burn quickly in the sun but hate, hate, hate long sleeves or the ridiculously uncomfortable feel of sunscreen. These sleeves are long enough and comfortable enough to cover to the elbow without feeling constricted. The sleeve pockets are handy for small items instead of carrying a bag. SMALL items. Don’t expect to put a giant phone or pack a lot of makeup or keys in them. The heaviness makes the sleeves feel awkward, as it should, and if you get your elbow above ear level, everything will dump out. As it should.Overall, I am glad I ordered more than one. I can’t believe they fit so nicely and are so well made.I am no fashionista, so given how I feel one day, I can see myself as a sexy boho rebel or Mrs Roper in my kimono. But I Love it all the same.WARNING: the fabric feels a bit like rayon. Unless you are filthy dirty, do not put it in the washer or dryer. I have ruined a favorite skirt or two thinking because it was cotton derivative that it would be OK. You will have a ruined crumply mess. I put mine out of the package with a lightly damp small towel in a very low temp dryer for under 10 minutes to get the fold creases out, and even that level of carefulness, I lost some of the crisp creases on the sleeves and they became poofier than I’d like. Corrected by pressing, but still.

The best
These are great kimonos for the price and just great in general. The fabric is very comfortable smooth and real. The prints are amazing. The fits are good as well.

Pretty but Odd
Odd construction, but very pretty.Mine has a *ton* of loose strings coming from it, so I'm a bit disappointed for the cost.

Beautiful and reasonably priced for quality.
I was pleasantly surprised when I received this kimono! It was the prefect size for me (XL), but I could have sized down comfortably though, to a LG. I have an authentic kimono/robe from Japan and this piece is pretty dang close -- the open seams under the armpits, the cut of the sleeves, the length. After reading the reviews, I found it kind of funny that so many were perplexed by the open seams under the armpits -- they are supposed to be there..."Why do kimonos have holes or slits under the arms? ... It is convenient to adjust the kimono when it gets loose. It is for ventilation. Because women wear their belts(obi) at a higher position than men, they need that slit to give their arms wider range of motion." Although we don't wear the kimono the same way in the US, at least we can honor why they are the way they are made for the sake of fashion here. I would totally purchase in another color, but LOVE the light green/blue color/print. For reference - 38DD, 5'3". This wraps almost all the way to the opposite side of my body when closed, hence why I mentioned that I could size down, but I do like the extra room and flowy-ness. My only complaint is that it didn't come with a matching belt!!! There wasn't one anywhere in the package although it is pictured with one in all of the online photos (ugh) -- the only reason I'm giving it fours stars. I can always make my own, but for now, I'm just using another belt from another one of my robes.EDIT: I contacted the seller regarding the missing belt/sash and they were prompt, courteous and accommodating and will be sending me a replacement soon. Thanks! It saves me the hassle of making one.

Lovely fabric but don't upsize x2, possible alterations
I bought this to use as a lightweight robe for the last few weeks of pregnancy in the summertime and a pretty nursing/hospital robe. I abided the advice and up-sized to a large to cover my big tummy, but when not pregnant would have been a small (womens 4-6). The large is still too big for my very pregnant self. For my purposes, this is no big deal. I don't mind the underarm vents, it still covers well for modesty. I also don't mind relocating the tie (I actually just ran it behind me and through the underarm vents, but will probably sew the real loops higher later). The only other thing I would add for others to consider is that I failed to realize how the kimono sleeves would be a little impractical when making breakfast in the morning... they dangled in the way of the hot stove and kitchen sink. I solved this by sewing a button on each of the shoulder seams and a tiny loop on the corner of the hanging part of the kimono sleeves so I could get them out of the way easily when necessary. With all of that said, for me it is so light and soft and pretty and affordable that it was worth a little hassle to adjust the fit. If I were buying it for other non-maternity reasons I would definitely buy the size I normally wear or just one size bigger, and I would want to know some minor alterations might be needed in case this is something you don't/can't do yourself.

Nice fabric but didn’t like the way the sleeves were made
The sleeves are made strange with open seems under the arms. The fabric was really nice but had to be pressed before you could even see what it looked like. Chose to return because of the design of the sleeves. It was be be a gift
