It's a speaker, not a receiver. You don't plug earphones into your speakers in the car or house, do you? No, you plug earphones into the receiver or recording device, or Ipod, smart phone, or mp3.

is the quality of sound much better that laptop speakers?

Yes, unless you have a very large laptop with Beats audio or something to that effect.

So, it has a USB you can plug into a laptop to listen to music?

The usb broke, replaced it- new one will not pair- rendering speaker useless as my laptop has no bluetooth and i counted on the usb pairing to the speaker for sound. very disappointed.
