Viking Knits and Ancient Ornaments: Interlace Patterns from Around the World in Modern Knitwear

Lovely patterns, beautiful presentation
These are classic Elsebeth Lavold designs — some quite intricate, all clearly explained. Lavold’s style is unmistakeable - she combines traditional Nordic cable elements in refined shapes. There is nothing boxy or overwhelming in her work, which is more suitable for the office than for the fishing boat. If, like me, you have been collecting Lavold’s books and pamphlets for years, you will find not repetitions but refinements of some earlier designs, but the revisions are important. Lavold’s designer techniques and shaping expertise are evident. This is a wonderful resource.

Great second book
Patterns lovely, I did two sweaters from her first book that turned out well. Clear instructions and interesting development of where they came from. I was able to integrate her individual designs and make an original design myself. I like how the author elaborates on the design history in the second book.

Fabulous patterns
I had borrowed this book from the library so many times I realized it was time for my own copy. Great patterns and samples that are very easy to adapt and apply to other patterns.
