Make a Statement: 25 Handcrafted Jewelry & Accessory Projects Paperback – Illustrated, March 10, 2015

This is a great book for anyone who wants to know more about the best way to make jewelry. The step- by- step process is well thought out and the projects are lots of fun. The introduction of materials, tools and techniques gave me a lot of confidence to make something that I'd not attempted before. I've made three things already and plan to make more for myself and as gifts. I thought there was a good assortment of photos and illustrations- certainly enough to understand the process. I wanted to make the long tassel earrings and couldn't find the supplies nearby but checked the website for the company and there are lots of tutorials there of projects that look like fun to make. Plus- I found the things I needed to make my earrings and they turned out great. This is a book I'll be referring to for a long time to come.

Pretty good for inspiration but could use more detail pictures. Generally there is one "lifestyle" shot of someobe wearing the item and then one close up. A photo of the parts pre assembly would be nice as well as some detail shots of construction (like they usually have on their site) would be helpful instead of just a list. There are a couple of really excellent hand drawn tutorials though.I would also say they missed an opportunity to make the ebook version really special with video tutorials.

I'm really happy I bought this book. The projects are ones I wouldn't have thought up myself and they do make a statement as the book title suggests. I've made several pieces now and am pleased with them all. I've gotten good comments too on the earrings and necklaces I've made. I think the directions are well thought out and the planning stages in the book worked for me. I had made a few jewelry pieces before getting this book but once I got my copy it took me even further in the craft than I anticipated - which is very good. I'm not displeased at all and found the overall theme and content to my liking. Pretty photos, great projects and good directions - whats not to like.

While there are one or two interesting projects in here for the most part everything is extremely easy to do on your own. It also bothered me that more than third of the book is taken up with basic information about materials and simple techniques.

disappointing

This beautiful book was great inspiration for making jewelry and understanding how to get started. I have also followed The author's online "Forthemaker's" site and this coordinates nicely with the book. I found it to be a wonderful gift for friends who want to be creative but need help getting started. Having a hard copy of projects so well organized is less overwhelming than starting online.

So happy I pre-ordered! Great resource for the crafty girl (or guy), lovely illustrations, beautiful, inspirational pieces, simplified instructions - Make a Statement makes a statement of it's own. Brava FTM!
