I recommend this book to everyone!
I recommend this book to everyone! When I was first diagnosed wit cancer in 2016, my boss at the time was also a cancer survivor and she wrote on a post-it note “Anti-Cancer”. I bought Dr. Servan-Schreiber’s book and read it immediately. The first book CHANGED my life. On one hand, it is depressing to realize that my previous lifestyle may have contributed to my cancer, but on the other hand - I felt SO empowered knowing that there are MANY things I could do to increase my chances of survival. I also saw Dr Cohen speak at an event for The C Word documentary when it came out and was very moved by his passion and energy around integrative medicine. I continued to follow the Anti-Cancer team, so when this new book came out, I was eager to read it! I love the new book and the added focus on relationships and updated research. It has taken me some time, but I finally feel like I’ve got a good mix-of-6 in my life! I eat SO many plants now, I meditate, I’ve switched to safer cosmetics/skincare/cleaning products. I’ve gone to therapy to help strengthen the relationships in my life. I paint and play the piano now! As a result of all of those changes - I’ve lost 100 pounds and feel so vibrant and alive! Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Cohen and the Anti-Cancer team!

Helpful guide to focus on sleep, nutrition, and positive relationships to reduce cancer risks.
This was written by MD Anderson Cancer Center's former Alternative Medicine Director and the former Psychology and Director at the Cancer Center. After initial publication, Cohen was diagnosed with melanoma. The authors were close friends with Dr. Servan-Schreiber, who wrote the eye-opening and immensely helpful book "Anti-Cancer: A New Way of Life" and is also a must-read for anyone going through or helping one survive cancer, even incurable cases. This book focuses as a sort of self-help / learning manual to explain what sounds like common sense to all: get enough sleep, eat healthily and well, get rid of toxic people and toxic or negative relationships, focus on positivity, do not overwork, and so on.The reality is that so many people do not get sufficient sleep (a supernutrient necessary for the body to recover from daily toil), do not make time to eat enough or eat well, and often get steamrolled and hurt by painful and traumatic relationships and bad people who in turn hurt one's mental health and immune system.Placed many post-it notes in this book about building up one's body and health. The human body amazingly has so many normal cell functions and is normally able to attack cells before they develop into a tumor and cancer. It's when the body's proteins and other mutations occur as a result of carcinogens/pollution/environmental factors that the pre-cancerous cells cluster and proliferate to turn into deadly cancers.

Everyone should read this!
The timing of hearing about this book wcould not have been more fortuitous as I was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. Since then, I have read the book--my partner is reading the book, and I gave a copy to my sister in law whose entire family has had some form of cancer. The book is informative and easy to follow. The case histories were all well chosen; there is great power in stories, as well as statistics. My doctor told me there’s nothing holistic I can do for my cancer. That’s what my doctors told me about my high cholesterol and blood pressure. It’s not true! The book shows you what you can do and why.

A very worthwhile publication
I recommend buying this book. For me it has the following strong points:1) It covers all of the bases in both trying to prevent the onset of cancer, and in trying to improve outcomes for those unfortunate to have the disease.2) It comes from someone who both works at a World renowned cancer center, and who has had the disease.I also admire the author's stance against the serving of junk food in cancer centers, and in particular in calling out this practice at his own place of work. Some of the appendices are very good. There are a few things that I do not like about the book. I wish to emphasize however, that none of these should deter one from making the purchase. My criticisms are as follows:1) The book is too long. Messages are repeated and the whole reading experience could have been improved by editing out some of the text.2) I personally am not sold on the importance given to love and social support. I think that the importance or not of this aspect depends a lot on the individual, and its inclusion (particularly as the most important one) just does not ring true. It feels more like marketing, the 'Mix of Six' sounding better than the 'Mix of Five'.3) Finally, a small annoyance is the use of 'her' in lieu of 'his' in several places. If we must have Political Correctness, then I would rather have seen 'his of her'.

Best book on dealing with cancer I’ve ever read.
As a cancer survivor with recurrent cancer I’ve done 10 years worth of research. The Doctor who wrote this book is on staff MD Anderson cancer center in Houston Texas which is one of the premier cancer hospitals on the planet. I have seen bits and pieces of this information by less known sources over the years so this is the first book that I have ever read that put it all together with the best advice I could imagine. This should be required reading for anyone diagnosed with cancer or is close to someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. The author comes out and says what few doctors will ever advise and that is that the body is designed to heal itself and includes much anecdotal evidence to prove it. Buy and read this book immediately.

Excellent book
I found this book an incredibly useful, inspiring guide to healthy living practices that are likely to improve day-to-day quality of life and also minimise the risk of cancer developing or recurring. I found the information and advice evidence-based, sensible and easy to implement. I wish the information in this book was more widely known.

This book is fabulous
This book is amazing - so easy to read whilst being technical enough to give a clear understanding of how to improve your outcomes both preventative and if diagnosed. Not just for cancer - for a healthier, happier life . Loved it and have bought lots of copies as gifts to share the love .
