99 they look like they are made by the same Chinese manufacture and ...
I wanted a headlamp that was lightweight water resistant, 100+ lumen, red light and used AA battery. I bought two to test BrightSpark Compact LED Headlamp $18.77 and the Rayvenge T1A LED Headlamp $17.99 they look like they are made by the same Chinese manufacture and finished slightly different. They have the same O-ring seal, thin, lite housing Cheep latch. The Rayveng came with worthless instructions. Store between 68F and 77 F. Remove battery when not in use. Don’t stare at the lamp. The one thing they don’t tell you is how to turn on the red light. Hold the button for 3 seconds.I emailed the sellers Outback River who sold the Bright Spark responded Rayvenge did not.So If you are looking for a cheap headlamp I would recommend BrightSpark and OutbackRiver. BrightSpark Compact LED Headlamp, Water Resistant, Powerful for its Size, Single AA, Slips Easily Into Your Pocket. Best for Hiking, Running, Camping, Fishing, Hunting, Kids, Reading.

Good for years
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 3 Stars - Light worked well for a while, but now it discharges at all times with the red light ever so slightly on even when it's turned off. So now I have to store the battery out of the headlamp, and every time I have to use it I have to put the battery in. So unless there's a way to fix it I'll eventually replace it.EDIT 9-19-17: Their customer service of Outback River is great! They immediately replied to me, and shipped me a new headlamp! It's impressive to see a company stand behind their product like that, and it renews my confidence in them. 4 Star headlamp, but 5 star customer service, and 5 star price, so I'm upping it to 5 stars.

Great design, but one BIG flaw
I have bought several of these, and I love the design, the functionality, and the fit. I also love that it takes a single AA battery, for compactness and ease of resupply. HOWEVER, I am giving it only three stars for one big reason: it will drain the battery dead within a few months if you leave a battery in it, turned off the whole time. That makes it a bad candidate for leaving stashed in a bug out bag, in a car’s glove box, or anywhere else you would want it in an emergency. The workaround for this flaw isn’t too complicated – just cut a small piece of cardboard or plastic, and insert it between the battery and the battery terminal on one end of the battery. This will prevent the battery from training over the long term. However, if you don’t know about the flaw, you will have a nasty surprise the first time you reach for your emergency light and find it useless.

Small and light, yet very powerful
Having used to 3AAA headlamps all this time, this BrightSpark Headlamp seems as light as a feather. At less than 3oz, 2.2 oz on my kitchen scale (Picture 2) including battery, half of the time I forgot that I am wearing it. Other than for camping and backpacking, I was trying to put together an emergency kit, and I figured to make my life easier, I want to streamline and use just AA batteries for everything electrical that I need to carry. My only problem is the headlamp. Most headlamps being sold on Amazon requires 3AAAs. I am so happy to have stumbled upon BrightSpark Headlamp which only uses ONE AA battery and it is included with the headlamp.. The battery that is included is not some cheap generic battery either, but is a Duracel Duralock Coppertop, expiration date: March 2021.Specs:--Cree R3-LED bulb.--Modes:1) Hi - Lumens- 100, Lighting Distance-95 meters, Burn time -8 hours 2) Med- Lumens- 40, Lighting Distance-45 meters, Burn time - 13 hours 3) Low - Lumens -6, Lighting Distance - 6 meters, Burn Time - 38 hours 4) SOS- Lumens 10, Burn Time- 60 hours(to get to the redlight mode, just press switch more than 3 seconds) 4) Redlight -Lumens 4, Lighting Distance-5 meters, Burn Time- 18 hours 5) Redlight Flashing- Burn Time 40 hours--Waterproof- rated IPX-6So far, I love this headlamp. So small, light, yet powerful and on par with other heavier and bigger headlamps that I have owned in the past. I highly recommend this product.Other pluses that I should mention:-Packaging is smart and intuitive, all cardboard, all 100 % recyclable, which I truly appreciate.-Comes with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. They obviously stand by their product.

Impressive little light
I bought this headlamp because it met all my requirements for an ultralight, weekend backpacking piece of gear. It weighs only 2.3 oz with the AA battery. You can go lighter with the push button zipper pull lights, but you sacrifice so much with that option, it's almost not worth bringing as a primary light. With this one you get a great function to weight ratio. One bright (listed at 100 lumens) white light with hi/med/low/flashing functions and a two, night vision saving red LEDs with a constant/flashing function. It has a nice, large headband that would easily be able to adjust over a climbing helmet or sized to fit a toddler. Along with the red LED for night hiking, the other feature that attracted me to this product was that it ran on ONE AA battery, not 3 AAA's or some exotic, expensive battery. At an extra 1.6 oz you can have 2 battery backups and I'm still .3 oz less then my old Tikka (with no extra batteries). The build quality is far superior to those dollar store lights; it is still an all plastic construction but the battery compartment has a satisfying "snap" shut and the headlamp angle adjustments have a solid click (this part is the weakest point and may wear out over extended usage, but at the price...). I have not tested it's water resistance capabilities, but it does have a rubber seal along the battery compartment. The price cannot be beat. I got it for just under $15 around Black Friday and at the time I am writing this review it is running a buck more. I have seen other headlamps (identical in appearance, just different names and colors) going for $40+.If you are in the market for a nice, inexpensive, lightweight headlamp, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

Great....when it worked (and that was never when I needed it) PS from March 2016
Bought two of these for a trip overseas. Tested them out before we left and they will literally blind a person, so don't look at it when you turn it on. Was impressed with all the functions, incl. the red light. Used mine twice on our trip with no problems, then the third time the light wouldn't come on. Unfortunately the third time was a clutch, in the back alley of an Italian city, so there were a number of unhappy campers, and I lost face. Nobody wants to be the one who says "No problem, I have a light" and then look like a dork for not having a working light. Got home, replaced battery with fresh one, and still no light. And we were gone too long to replace this through Amazon's policy, so now I'll find out how good Outback River really is.Postscript: Outback River really is as good as they claim. I was promptly contacted by their customer service rep who gathered together my information and they made the situation more than right in short order. I am hoping the new light I received will last longer than the initial one I purchased, but I have faith that this company will stand behind their product regardless.March 1, 2016Was sent the replacement for the one that stopped working. (I'll never know if the second that I originally purchased is still working as my son has lost it). I haven't used it often, maybe twice a month and then for only 20 minutes at a time. About three months ago it didn't work for me, so I open it up and the battery had leaked. Literally liquid in the compartment (I hadn't taken it out during any rains, so it wasn't a breakdown of the lamp's gasket.) Dried it out, replaced the battery and it is good to go. Okay, no harm, no foul. Chalk it up to a bad battery. Then last night I slap it on and crawl behind my washer to do a repair, and if you've ever done this you can guess that the last thing you want to do is have to wiggle back out to get something. The something in this case was another light source because, once again, this headlamp wouldn't come on. I'm am done with it. I threw it across the room and got my wife's little cheap-o Yalumi Spark that I bought on Amazon almost two years ago. It gets switched on about twice a year and is still on its original battery. Not as cool looking as this one, nor as many functions, but it works when I ask it to.

Great Product, Even Better Customer Service
I am building toward doing some ultra marathons, so nighttime running is inevitable. However, on a limited budget, I needed something practical yet durable. I ordered this headlamp because of the great reviews and what was a clear concern on behalf of the company to provide customers with a good experience and good product. When I received the headlamp, it was perfectly packaged, and the product itself was aesthetically pleasing as well as sturdy. However, when I opened the lamp to insert the battery, the gasket meant to keep water pulled away from the top. I soon realized it was warped, making a sealed closure impossible. I was disappointed because I thought the product was otherwise high quality. Amazon didn't offer an option to exchange the product, so I decided to return it for a refund and reorder it later. However, even before Amazon received the returned headlamp, I heard from the company's managing partner to ask about the reason for the return. After I explained the situation, he made every effort to ensure my problem was addressed and ultimately replaced the headlamp for me at no charge. I cannot recommend Outback River as a company more highly. This was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Also, I have since used the replacement for some very early morning runs under less-than-ideal conditions, fog and rain both times. The headlamp performed exceptionally well. If you are looking for a durable headlamp for any activity, this is the one.

Fantastic light-weight lamp packing incredible brightness
Update 2: The seller sent me a replacement lamp that is programmed to go straight to red if you hold the power button down while turning it on. This is an amazing improvement since you won't blind everyone at night when you need the red light.I just used this light on a sailboat race from Massachusetts to Bermuda and it was very comfortable to wear and had a stronger bright white beam than the large flashlight in the cockpit that everyone else had to use to look at sail trim. This is now my first-choice headlamp and I won't leave on any race without it.Update: Seller contacted me and offered to fix the programming of the switch, which would make it a great light. Based on their quick response, I am updating to 3 stars. Once they follow through and make the correction, I'll give this product 5 stars because that seems to be its only flaw.Original Review: Great weight, great beam, but the default beam when you turn it on is the brightest white, completely negating the benefit of having a red beam for night vision. You have to hold the switch down once it is on to get the red beam. The designers/manufacturers of this light have obviously never been in a situation where one would want the red beam to avoid the glare of the bright light and the subsequent disturbance to the eyesight of the user and everyone around them.
