APOC Survival Broad Sword, Black

U'll start with what I like about the sword. First, it's a good length. It's not a longsword, this is not a hand and a half sword - this is a broadsword. Broadswords are swords meant to be used to cut and break bones - this sword would be able to do that. This sword feels good to hold, although the center of balance is about 4 or 5 inches from the hilt (blade heavy), but it's not enough to make it unusable. I have large hands, and this thing feels good in my hand. It's comfortable, and when swung it makes a nice sound as it cuts through the air.For a 153 dollar sword (at time of purchase), the blade came oil damaged. There was either too much oil in the sheath, or else they incorrectly applied it to the blade, but when I got it, the blade looked rusted. I was immediately angry they sold me a rusted sword at this price, but I decided to clean it off, and after doing so I found out it was just dirt covered oil, and it made the entire wipe I used brown as mud. But, after that I could see the damage done to the finish of the blade itself. Testing the factory grind of the edge was also disappointing, since there were parts where the grind was so badly done it was more jagged than dull.I wasn't expecting the blade to be razor sharp out of the box, but I at least expected a consistent edge. This is not a cheap sword, and while it isn't extremely expensive as far as a battle ready sword goes, I at least wanted to have it stay nice for a little while. I hope the pictures I took of the damage actually shows the discoloration, because it is not as beautiful as it could have been.I almost returned this sword, but then I remembered this isn't a collector's item for me. I bought this sword for eventual possible use. What do I care if the black finish is damaged? If I wanted a beautiful sword I would have gotten a katana or a Chinese sword of some kind, but I wanted something functional that would last. The black coating won't, but the sword itself should be fine.This is a great sword, bit disappointed in the edge and that the finish was damaged, but this sword should last through what ever hell I put it through. Very impressive blade, and a lot of fun to swing.Now if my trainer swords would get here, I could actually begin sword drills to train with it...

This thing is rugged and sturdy. I love the modern design and the subtle apocalyptic flare. My only complaint is that the factory sharpened edge was a bit rough. The bur from grinding wasn't cleaned up properly. That was easily fixed and this blade was more than worth the cost.

I bought this sword to replace the sword I have carried for about 15 years. Yes, I carried a sword, actually packed a concealed sword since the late 80's.My first carry blade was a 19" bayonet. shrugz...This blade deserves a custom scabbard, one that lets me carry this blade the same way I have packed a blade for years. I will be replacing the handle scales as well. When I get that done I will update.So, I REALLY liked my previous sword, but it got stolen one night when I got lazy and left it in my car, and forgot to lock it up... shrugz. It had a 20" blade and 6" handle, about 26" overall, handy size and well suited to my usage. I wander around in the wild a lot, taking pictures, and stuff, so it's a tool.The NEW blade is about 3" longer overall, but very close in feel. I want to cut one edge to 20 degree and the other to 45 degree, which is how my previous blade was set up, giving me a beater edge, and a wicked slicing edge.I read up on the steel used for this sword, good steel. The edge grinds were burred, so they ground out the edges but did not hone them, a few minutes with a diamond and ceramic hone got that cleaned up. Of course, as I said, I will regrind those at some time to 20 and 45 degrees, They seem to be about 30 degrees from the factory.I like the blade profile, and the distal taper is well done as well. The ricasso is full tang thickness.The full tang was what sold me on this blade. I have seen and handled swords that were advertised as "full tang", but were crap, I have had several cheap blades that fell apart at the hilts, because they used a screw on rat tail mess. If you cannot see the tang, you have no idea what kind of cheap nonsense you are holding, and I refuse to trust that construction. THIS blade I trust.I have used my sword to chop down trees, for firewood. When I finish the edge grinds, this blade will work for me.I don't hang the sword on the wall. It's a working tool. I have used it to stop criminals, i have used it for survival in the wild, I have used it in rescue ops. I have trained, live steel against other people using swords, I got bruised, scarred, sliced and chopped.This is a GREAT sword for me to replace my long time carry blade.

This sword is quality made and very tough. Came sharp, but did use a diamond sharpener to finish blade out. Then chopped and cut limbs off a plum tree I was cutting down. Sword definitely handled some punishment without chipping or deforming blade, but I knew when to stop. It’s not an axe.

Disappointed that the sheath didn’t last longer. Tip of sheath has come off the end. It seems it was glued on but the sword pushes it back out when re-sheathed. Sword is sharp and durable.

Making a mannequin I'll tell you later but it delivers a good hit

Sword balde is very roughly ground, very uneven. Handle slabs are uneven with rough grind marks and sharp corners. weighs a ton a sword of this size should not be this heavy.Angus Trimm would shake his head in shame.

Feels good in hand. Solid construction. I’m not sword expert but I know when something is quality. The scabbard could be tougher though. The point will pierce your skin with only it’s weight! *Do Not Try*
