The Federalist Papers

This Publication only contains 18 of the 85 Federalist Essays.
I guess I’m a little confused. There are supposed to be 85 essays in the Federalist but this book only has 18. I don’t see a description of the book that warns of this. Am I missing something? The introduction talks about all 85 essays as if they are all in this publication. Nothing in the product discription warns that this publication only contains an abreviated list of the essays.

This one is complete.
The dover thrift edition "the federalist papers" with the blue top and the vintage bottom is the complete collection of all 85 essays. Amazon for whatever reason has the same reviews saying " this is incomplete" on several different versions/publishers of the federalist papers. I told Amazon but they didn't care. So I am writing this to let folks know that this version ISBN-13 978-0-486-4936-8 is complete with all 85 essays. I went ahead and bought it and verified. Great value for i think i paid 8 bucks.

Should Be Taught in Every American Public School by Law (and I'm a liberal)
Per the headline - this book should be taught throughout a standard public education, regardless of your political persuasion. In fact, I would go so far as to say that were this book to be taught throughout a standard public education, political persuasion would become nearly irrelevant insofar as the common welfare of our Republic is concerned. The things I learned in the first forty pages of these papers would solve 99% of the problems suffered by contemporary partisanship (factions) in the United States of America. These papers existed for one simple purpose - to make an argument, to the common man, in favor of reconstituting our Republic under "a more perfect Union", as defined by this new constitution. It, of course, succeeded - which is amazing considering the political climate of that time.Cut to 2018: The common refrain of all the partisans today is "you don't understand The Constitution!" In fact, based on what these papers convey most accurately today, I am convinced that very few citizens, particularly the most partisan, actually understand The Constitution. Reading the actual document, however, will not provide the WHY behind it - leaving us to argue out what we THINK the writers intended. If only we had access to what they were thinking in direct, original and unvarnished letters organized and focused specifically on the WHY of each and every element of that document. We do. They are the Federalist Papers, and it is a crime that we force our children to memorize what day Washington crossed the Delaware, and fail to teach this collection of writings. We reap what we sow, and what we sow is ignorance.

A great resource with all 85 papers!
Most books with the Federalist Papers that I could find only had a selection of them included. This book contains all 85 and also lists who wrote them and when they were published (if that information is available). It also has a fairly decent Table of Contents so you can easily find the paper you're looking for. The constitution is also included at the beginning which some people might find handy. Overall exactly what I was looking for. Would buy again.

Only selected papers, not all of them.
It should be noted this does not include ALL of the Federalist Papers. It is a selected few, which I didn't notice when I bought it. I wanted them all sor study purposes, so I got another paperback with all 86 papers for 1/2 the price at a bookstore.

Not what it says
In the description it says, "This book features edited highlights of the essays". This isn't the case for the hard copy edition. It doesn't even have half of the papers in this edition. Returned

Difficult to Locate and Still Not Exactly 'It'
I looked all over this website for a book that contains the Federalist Papers and the Constitution. I found a version of this book, but it wasn't exactly it. I was trying to be really careful because the reviews show up on different versions of different books they are described as if they have both the Federalist Papers and the Constitution - not the same publisher!!! Amazon needs to fix that first. The ISBN for this edition is 978-0486496368 - a different reviewer included this information, and it was the only reason why I was finally able to find it.In any case, I was looking for a book that contained the Federalist Papers and The Constitution for my niece's AP U.S. Government course. This edition does contain all 85 of The Federalist Papers, though, high school and college usually on focus on a few. This is a really nice paperback edition, and worth the $7. It contains a preface, and Alexander Hamilton's general introduction. This would be perfect if it included The Constitution, so 4 stars.

Get out your magnifying glass!
My edition has all of the 85 Papers, not sure what the other reviews were about when stating there were some missing. That being said, the FONT on the pages is like 3.5, and the print ink clarity is half way between unreadable and barely! I actually had to get out a set of magnifying glasses to read this, and that's tedious.SUGGESTION: Buy yourself a bigger print book.True, the shipping cost was zero, but this size and light font is going to cost me a headache from trying to read it!

Hamilton wrote the other 51....
Bought for some Hamilton superfans and it was a fantastic gift. Hamilton was an excellent writer, as was John Jay and James Madison. A very interesting read for history buffs, Hamilton fans and lovers of Politics.

the immigrant writes like a genius
I wish there where some details included withing a blur, or a few pages before the main content of the book starts.I had to google who this "PUBLIUS" person was. Other than that, the immigrant writes like a genius, although I much prefered James Madison's style of writing.

the Shoulders of Giants
An essential read for anyone interested in American History or even in the origins of our modern liberal democracy. Especially in today's world where the very virtues that we hold dear are under threat...

Reliable seller
Book arrived as promised and was as described. Interesting read given what is going on in the USA.

Do not buy this version of the Federalist!
I'm very confused by this. Not even half of the federalist papers are included and there is also no publication information in the book. I have been, quite simply, swindled out of my money.
