Music to your ears and budget!!
My daughter’s laptop doesn’t come with an external drive, which apparently is normal these days (looks like I’m old) and she wanted a drive to be able to listen to CDs from her computer. This drive worked perfectly! No complicated driver program to download, it all worked automatically without any compatibility issues. The cord needed is included as well, so you can open the box and start listening to your tunes immediately!

Quiet; does not seem to draw power while unused
The last CD burner I had was very noisy, so I figured it was just the nature of that sort of peripheral at the sort of price I paid (comparable to this one). That was OK, since I used it mainly to import music into iTunes, and so I hardly ever wanted to play music from the CD. Well, when that broke down, I got this one, figuring it was more or less a commodity. Well shiver me timbers! This one is quiet! I hardly can tell if the music is playing through iTunes or from the CD but for the little yellow light on the front. It is not silent--there is some mechanical spinning and seeking noise, and I wouldn't use this drive for listening--but it doesn't drown out the music. One point that might be an issue: it does not work connected to the powered USB hub that I used for the old drive, so I have to plug it in directly to the computer. That's not a problem for me, but I was concerned that it would draw power all day, but the yellow indicator lamp on the front of the unit does not light up unless a CD is in the tray (and the tray is secured inside the drive), except for computer start up and tray opening and closing.

Reasonably priced simple unit
I got a message from the DVD R/W unit maker's customer service about installing a special media player for Windows 10. Go to the Videolan site. Choose your download. When the dialog box comes on the screen suggesting you choose a similar Microsoft software, don't choose that. Click Install Anyway. The media player can be configured how you want and works right away with the DVD/RW unit.

Requires burn software. But instruction booklet states it needs NERO type software.
The product description states that this drive does not require software. But my MacBook Air (2018) iTunes, would not burn music onto this drive. It started to burn a playlist, but then after about 5 seconds it failed and ejected the disc.I tried several new CD-R discs. It's not worth the trouble, for Amazon or me, to return it. Into the garbage it will go.

Highly recommended and good value
Works great! This is a fast CD/DVD player. So far, I've only used it to read CDs and DVDs, but it works flawlessly on Windows 10.The USB 3 connection gives it the fast speed I need to rip a CD into iTunes or load up a DVD full of photos onto the hard drive. And its very sleek looking and compact!

good to use
This is a good drive. It's small which enables me to take it on trips and use with my tablet. I like that it's a 3.0 USB as that seems a little faster than a previous 2.0 that I had. I've used it mostly for data but I did burn a couple of CDs and it worked well. Based on my limited use, I'd recommend it.

This is my friend recommended me to buy it
This device is very user friendly. I just hooked it up and like you say "plug and play" and I'm in business. It fits perfectly to the left of my keyboard. I recently got a Dell reconditioned desktop which did not have an internal CD/DVD drive. This fits the bill perfectly. It's quiet and everything works!
