Ideal for old alarm to RING alarm conversions. See photos
This j4home was just the adapter that was needed to allow for hookup of a new 2nd Gen RING alarm system in place of an old hardwired ADT system. The RING package comes with a standard outlet wired plug and as a result, clean wall mount installation is not possible. This adapter allows to power the RING alarm from the two (red and black) power wires that were used for my old setup. One side is the red and black wires which join to the red and black wires on the old alarm setup and the other side is the RING jack. It installs easily and functions perfectly. I attached pictures for reference. I now have a seamless, wire free wall mount on my RING alarm and had no issues with the adapter not fitting or being a different size with this Gen 2 module. Good luck.

Works great with Ring keypads (Gen. 2)
I bought two of these to keep my Ring keypads charged using the existing 4-wire cables for the old Brinks alarm pads. I simply connected them to the existing wires and then feed 15 volts into the wires in the closet where the old alarm system lived. The USB cable that is attached to them fits just fine in the Ring 2.0 keypads (didn't try with a 1.0) though it does take some pressure to insert. No offense to the fine engineers that designed these, but I'm only going to plug in the adapter for a few hours every few months to top the batteries off. If you leave them connected full time I'd suggest feeding them with an "LPS" (limited power source) rated power supply. These have over-current protection to reduce the risk of a fire in case of an internal short or a short in the wires.

Worked as expected
I purchased the ring alarm system and bought these for the keypads. I was able to connect this adapter to the existing alarm wires to power the keypad. Works perfectly without issues. Just a note. This is not specific to this adapter, just in general to charging the ring keypad at all times. The ring keypad will always illuminate the green battery icon (solid green when fully charged). The alarm status (home, away, disarmed) will always illuminate as well, which I think is great as you can see the status from across the room. You can dim the alarm status LED light in the keypad settings of the ring app but not the green battery icon.

NOT compatible with RING Gen2 keypads
The male USB connector on this item does not fit into the jack on the RING generation 2 keypads. The keypad has a rounded slot that doesn't permit the square UBS connector to seat properly. See my pictures for more details. In t first picture, the black USB connector shown is the J4home converter and the white USB connector is from the OEM Ring cable. The second pictures shows how the J4home UBS cable does not slide all the way into the Ring USB jack. Hopefully this info saves someone else some hassle. Returning this item.

Great item. Works flawlessly. Buy wire nuts to connect to existing wiring as they are not included.
Great item! Works wonderfully with my ring keypad in the location of my old alarm pad, using the old wiring. Just be sure to purchase some wire nuts to connect the wiring and you are good to go!

Same Issue as Others
I had the same issue as others where the Ring connector is rounded on one end and this part is not. This was easily resolved using a razor blade and shaving a little bit of plastic to round the one end. After doing that, it fit right in. No issues yet, we will see how long the device lasts as other have stated.

Perfecto
Connected this up to the black and red wires from old alarm panel, plugged into Ring alarm panel (latest version) and it worked perfectly. I did shave a little plastic off the connector. But not certain I needed it. It fit almost all the way on before I did that. But shaved it based on other reviews.
