Kills rats and mice like you would expect it to
This is a neurotoxin that works on rats and mice in a few hours to a couple days, depending on how much they consume before the "stop feed" aspect kicks in. Once they have eaten a lethal dose they stop eating this bait. It doesn't take much of this to be a lethal dose. The target vermin will not keep eating this bait right up to the moment of death like they would with an anticoagulant poison. You cannot compare the amount of bait you see consumed or not with other types of baits because of this. This is why a lot of people are complaining that their bait has been "barely touched". The target doesn't keep gobbling up expensive bait once they reach a lethal dosage. If it looks like your baits are barely touched it's because it killed what did touch it and there are no more target animals. If you see more rodents that's because you live in an area with rodent population pressure and new animals are moving into the territory vacated by the destroyed animals almost immediately. This is especially true for rats. It can take a while for the new animals to discover the bait as they explore the territory. This doesn't mean the Top Gun bait isn't working, it means you need to vigilantly continue your vermin control efforts, probably indefinitely. It can take a long time to put a hole in the local rodent population if that can even ever be accomplished.I live in a rural area and while I don't have any livestock I'm surrounded by places that do. The animal feed for livestock is a primary food source for rodents and as their population grows they spread out over more territory. If your neighbors are slack about vermin control that makes it worse. Sadly a lot of people who own stock just accept rodent vermin as part of that lifestyle and don't bother with poison and traps so ...For me, the need to maintain an anti-vermin regimen will never end.Just because you don't see any vermin for a while doesn't mean they're not there. The presence of vermin, especially rats, can by cyclical. As you reduce your local population bait consumption slows or stops and traps stay empty for a while. Until the new crop of vermin find your place and the cycle starts over again. If you put this bait in a bait station along with an anticoagulant bait and the anticoagulant bait is consumed while little of this neurotoxin bait seems to be eaten that's because they got a lethal dose of this and then came back to continue feeding on the other. It's a double whammy poison-wise but that doesn't mean this Top Gun bait isn't working. The active ingredient in this bait is one of the safer poisons for birds and other mammals that might ingest a poisoned rodent. That's a big plus. There is no antidote for this so the less impact on non-targeted species the better. The blocks are advertised as "weather proof" and that's only partly true. They will break down and eventually fall apart. They're also susceptible to mold. It takes a long time for them to dissolve, in my experience over a year or more. If they're in a warm, most environment they mold fairly quickly. Mold doesn't seem to deter the target animals from consuming the bait. I've found moldy bait in my bait stations that shows signs of recent activity.I put this bait in the crawlspace under the house, I just throw some under there as far as I can get it and try to distribute it evenly. I also put it in my generator shack, under outside storage cabinets and sheds and other places where rodents frequent but larger animals can't reach. I throw a few blocks around my attic too, "just in case".I also use traps which allows me sort of an "early warning" that I have rodents that need dealt with. Hopefully if one, traps or bait, doesn't get them the other will. I don't see a lot of activity with the traps but I keep them armed and baited anyway.Where any other animal or human being can reach the bait I use locked, sealed bait stations to prevent accidental poisoning. This is an absolute must. If a pet or child ingests this stuff they can die. It contains a "bitterant" that makes the flavor very unappealing and that is a safeguard but not a guarantee against accidental ingestion. It only takes a little of this Top Gun bait to kill so you have to be conscientious and responsible about how you use it. If you're not willing to make that effort don't buy this bait. This is some pretty serious stuff. It works very well. The target animals generally do not have time to adapt or develop immunity because it works well and quickly. Where a target animal might consume small amounts of an anticoagulant toxin and develop an immunity (and pass that on to offspring) or become wary of the bait that doesn't apply with this neurotoxin. If they eat it they're done. They WILL eat it so even if all you see is a nibble on a bait block that animal is no longer a concern. When I first started using this a couple years ago my bait stations would be emptied in a couple/few weeks. The bait was being eaten by a comparatively large rodent population. That has slacked off quite a bit since then and I generally only have to open and replenish those stations every 6 months or so. Even then it's rare that all the bait is gone and usually all that's needed is to add a few blocks to top off the bait station. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because of the mold issue. I wish Eaton would develop a formula that doesn't mold. Other than that, this is a serious and effective tool for rodent control.

Im terrified of rats, and FAITHFULLY believe in this product! It's a WINNING!!
Been using for 2 years. I live in a area that use to be Farm land, but due to people migrating from the east & west coast to the midwest, most of the farms and forest-like areas have been cleared for human housing purposes. I had WOOD rats, which are BIG! I am extremely afraid of any kind of rat no matter how big, small or friendly; and I live alone, so using rat traps is OUT of the question. Top Gun to the rescue, and I hadnt seen any new rat dropping until this year. When I checked my bate boxes (6) for the 1st time since putting them out 2 yrs ago, they are all empty. Score! This means that the bate had killed several rats, thank GOD, because this type of bate has feed stop-points, meaning once the rat eats to a point of kill level, the rat will stop eating the bate. So for 6 bate-boxes, all having 4 bate-load rods, which I load to the max of 5 bate blocks....that equals a whole lot of rats eliminated from my local neighborhood. This works different than traditional rat poisons like Deacon, which allows rats to eat as much as they want until the rat dies somewhere in your house or on your property, waiting for you to stumble upon and find it rotting. Yuck! Or worse, you see the rat barely crawly across your floor dying, which then requires you to finish them off. No thank you! Get Top Gun, you won't be disappointed!

So Far So Good
Put these in this weekend. By Sunday, many of the blocks were gone. So hopefully, I'll see an immediate impact against the rats and mice outside. They took the bait, so I know the lure is good, and I am confident based on others experiences that it will affect rodent population.

Very good product
I swear by this one. The bait is always gone in a few months, and the rats are gone.

Does not work
I have always used the Apple blocks with success. Purchased these this go around and filled 6 bait boxes around my chicken coup. Not one block has been eaten in 14 days. Had 8 blocks of apple left so I mixed it in with these. All the Apple was gone in 1 day and still not even a nibble on these. Going back to apple flavored and throwing this batch away as it’s been over the 30 days to return

Rodent's don't seem to like it
This stuff is relatively expensive because the active ingredient bromethalin kills after one feeding, but that requires the critters to actually eat it. I replaced the Contrac bromadialone bait in my stations with this stuff, and they simply aren't eating it. I put some of my old Contrac bait in the stations alongside this stuff, and they're eating that. I think I'm going to have to throw this whole batch away. It's a bit more waxy than the other bait i used (Contrac by Bell), which I assume makes it more weather resistant. That waxiness may be reducing it's appeal to the mice and rats, though. Or they added too much bittering agent to the bait since there's no antidote for dogs who may eat it (which won;t happen if you put it into a proper bait station). The Contrac does take longer to work, though, so I always wondered whether I was poisoning the mice or just feeding them. Still, I'm going back to the Contrac, as there's some feeling of satisfaction in refilling my bait stations.

Perfect poison bait for rodent bait boxes.
I set bait boxes in our seasonal cabin to keep the mouse population under control. We found that typical household mouse poison was no longer being effective, so opted to try this on recommendations from other users. This product has eliminated the mouse population within the cabin! We no longer see mice, their droppings or other evidence of them taking up residence within the cabin. The blocks slip onto metal holder wires in our bait boxes, so critters cannot drag the poison out of the box -- they consume it all!
