Inspiring Spaces for Young Children

Fabulous !! A great visual way of inspiring early learning staff in creation of new, warm and wonderfully authentic environments for children !! Reuse, recycle and getting away from the big box early learning idea's of what early childhood environments should be !! It is important to create a little piece of home before children are stuck at desks and chairs for so many years !! This book is a great example of how that can happen !!

I liked the check lists and 7 elements to consider when designing an early learning space. I liked that it consider d real classroom spaces—which may not be Part of The “dream” early childhood classroom. I enjoyed seeing the before and after spaces and the blank slate.

I liked this book for the beautiful photographs of exciting, respectful, beautiful children's spaces and environments. Every page is loaded with visual ideas for arrangement, appeal, aesthetics, and warmth for children's engagement. I use this book to give me ideas not only for what to purchase but also of how to work with what I already have. There is a huge emphasis on natural elements, texture, light, color and form -- these are all sorely needed in children's environments today. I think the book also serves as the perfect resource to use with staff to teach them about the nature of "aesthetic" environments -- concepts such as "less is more" and "uncluttered, everything in its place" are easy to identify in this high quality, well-produced resource for early childhood professionals.

It was a good read, went into detail of importances of an aesthically appealing environments for young children. If you are creating a resource for this industry, I would recommend this book for inspirations.

Gave me a lot of ideas on how to bring nature into my classroom. Pictures are truly inspiring! I have been able to utilized a few ideas and my children have really responded to the changes I have made to those centers.

This is stunning, wonderful prompts, ideas and visual food for thought. This is a tool that we all need as teachers to enhance and improve spaces for children.

The ideas in this book are beautiful. Obviously created with real care and consideration for children as well as for those who work with them and care for them. If nothing else, a stunning book showing the contrasts between the bland 'everyday' and how magical good design can make things.
