A REAL "BRAIN TEASER" & THOUGHT PROVOKING
Unfortunately all too many people who reviewed this movie just didn't get it. This is NOT "The Three Faces of Eve"; nor a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde story; nor is it a Star Trek "mind meld". Instead, we have a story involving TWO SEPARATE and VIABLE CONSCIOUSNESSES inhabiting a single body going about their separate lives, though they have a unique way of communicating with each other. While their relationship is positive to a point, their desires, behavior, and lifestyles are quite different; and therein lies the problem. They even have a set of rules as to how to comport themselves when going their separate ways. A single violation could prove disastrous. That alone adds considerable stress to their independent lives. Each individual consciousness is allotted half a day - one from 7AM-7PM, the other 7PM-7AM. Neither one knows or is aware of what the other is doing or has done until after the fact once each alternate consciousness takes control. They are truly living separate lives. But for how long and it what form? Played by the up and coming star - Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver, November Criminals) - this film poses many unanswered questions: Do we really have only one conscious existence? Can we live a reasonably "normal" life with more than one? Is one more dominant than another if we did? What is the responsibility of each to the other? What is the definition of "living" itself? How does the behavior when one consciousness is in control affect the physical and mental well being of the other one when the latter is dormant? Elgort makes his character(s) totally credible and deserves far more positive critical response than he received. The always reliable Patricia Clarkson plays the part of their doctor/mentor and comports herself exceedingly well. The problems that each consciousness faces are emotionally gripping. The resolution (NO Spoilers here!) to the conundrum of this storyline may not please all. Nevertheless, it is philosophically thought provoking and is worth watching if for no other reason than it is an escape from the mundane. One reviewer compared this film to a TV series "Do No Harm". I would also suggest a little known TV movie titled "The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan" with Lindsay Wagner (of Bionic Woman fame) as well as certain aspects of Amazon's mini-series recreation of "The Man in the High Castle".

Watch this
Unique story with an interesting plot and some suspense. A movie that you think about the day after you watched it.

Meh, not impressive, unnecessarily slow
Forget the "brothers" living in the same body. My POV saw this as a case of DID, where, SPOILER ALERT: there used to be three. The character basically sheds "consciousnesses" as he settles on who he really wants to be. It's a weird coping mechanism, that's all. There is not enough sci-fi in it to be referred to as such. What would have made it better is a little more development on the device behind his ear.

Decent movie, worth watching. NOT SCI-FI.
I found it horrifying. I am a twin and my sister is violently mentally ill, to the point I am scared of her and in the past have kept where I was living secret to her. I watch stuff about conjoined twins and I thank the universe we aren't. I watch this and it scared me! BUT, the movie isn't horror, just my unique situation causes me to think that way. A lot of people are calling it science fiction, when it is more fantasy, because it doesn't give scientific -ish reasons and explanations, just starts off as this is how it is. It has interesting concepts, and shows some of the same issues we grew up with, like people treating us as interchangeable when we are very different, and how 2 people can have 100% same genetics and upbringing but be mentally and emotionally very different.

Compelling
I thought this was an intriguing take on identity and the threads that bind us to the vessels which contain who we are, and our multitudes and our nuances that make us us. We're all made up of distinct parts that make us whole, like an automaton, delicate pieces and mechanisms that must work together to be whole, with each part just as important as the others in navigating the liminalities between the depths in truly being and wanting to be being alive and its mirror image: merely existing, living solely to be done with it. Eventually a choice must be made.

Surprisingly Good Movie
This movie is definitely worth a watch. I really enjoyed how creative this film is. I was like wow what if this really happened, so it's very thought provoking. I only wish they would have shown us more of John's perspective besides what he filmed for Jonathan. Like we knew that John became depressed but what was his side of life really like either before or during the time he met Elena would have been nice. Such a good movie, it does help you understand more of the deeper side of a twin connection.

If you like movies that put you to sleep...
The fault isn't the stars in this film, it's the plot. This movie was written by a person who had an idea of a great movie and not the creative know how to make it into one. I literally screamed, "This movie is so damn boring!"
