This kit was very easy to install. The pilot was set way too high initially but it is easily adjusted by turning the screw underneath the knob (remove cover) in the front. You want the pilot as small as possible without blowing out or not heating the thermopile. The other reviewer that said the pilot is loud needs to turn it down. I see this alot and in the fireplace I installed this kit on but flare fittings do not need pipe dope etc, it should not be put on a flare fittings!. The instructions are shockingly lacking if you have never tried something like this. For example, no where does it show how to adjust the pilot flame or how to install damper safety clip. The flame modulation was noticeable but not as dramatic as I would like - but ok. All said, works great so far and a breeze to install. Be careful when bending the pilot light tubing so not to crimp it, there's no fixing that if you do other than replacing the pipe. I can't speak on longevity but so far I'm pleased!

The media could not be loaded.  Woman wanted to have a fire that she could just press a button and poof "FIRE". Well thanks to these fine folks, I made it happen for half the price of what the fireplace guys want. Duluth Forge 18" Log set and this was $450. Tied them together in about 2 1/2 hours- "I'm a slow learner"... aaand... Whala..ready to warm that woman's heart.

I spent more to be able to adjust the flames from lo, Medium & high, it really doesn't work, if you intently watch the flames you might notice a SLIGHT, slight change from low to high. Other than that it's fine.

It was easy to connect. Instructions were straight forward. My wife loves the remote - one button on and off and also, with one hand on the remote, she can adjust the flame from where she is sitting to low, medium, or high.

Installed and worked when installed but shut off after about an hour. Contractor tried to fix but finally just quit altogether. Sexond one I ordered. The first one didn’t work at all from first installation. Now they say it is out of return window! Amazon has let me down!

Straightforward assembly. Unit works well with simple remote. Remembers prior settings when turned off. Plastic housing seems susceptible to heat from fire.I called company with a question and they were prompt and helpful.

Our manual gas valve was failing so we upgraded it with this remote controlled one. The install to our existing gas fireplace was quite easy and straight forward. I did have to purchase a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter at the hardware store (for $3) because our burner pan has a 1/2" fitting.One snag was that the fire would shut off after about 10 minutes. I did some basic troubleshooting and realized that while the pilot worked fine, as soon as the fire started it was pushing the blue pilot flame away from the thermocouple. The cooler yellow flame of the fire was causing the thermocouple to "cool down" enough to cut off the gas. I bent the pilot a little closer to make sure it's always hitting the thermocouple and now it works perfectly.The remote function is awesome and our high/med/low settings work perfectly. The differences between high, medium, and low are obvious and we usually just keep it on medium. Not that we use the manual knob very much, but it would be nice if it were indexed better to let you know which way to turn it. Several times I lit the pilot and promptly spun the knob to "off" because it's not clear which way to turn it. (knob is off-pilot-on) We'll be using the remote most of the time, so that's not a huge deal. Might get a white marker and draw an arrow on there myself.

we created a linear fireplace in our stone fireplace and used this, works well. no complaints, does what it should do and so far no issues.
