No at all I have another type and is 30l and is bigger than this one

Are both/either the waist and sternum straps detachable?

Not sure if the design is updated on my one, but you can remove the straps on mine, you can unthread the straps off of the buckles, the buckles are not removable but the waist strap is (Mine is the 25L version)

Is the back of the bag supported (hard) to keep shape and airflow?

There is no airflow at the back of the bag, but the back is reasonably supported.
