Manufacturing quality needs improvement
I felt that I absolutely must to post this review.I bought this item through a garden supplier, not Amazon.Mine was defective (one star) and the manufacturer replaced it later (upgrade to 3 stars). When buying, you have to be aware that the thermostat may appear working but it may not heat the mat.Among other things, the thermostat has an indicator light whether it is heating the mat or not. It depends on the temperature set by you vs. the temperature felt by the probe. Mine was showing that the temperature of the probe is low, the mat is ON, but it was NOT giving the power to the mat. As a result, my seedlings were cold for 2 days and nights (I didn't know that at the time). Luckily, I transferred the seedling before they got affected to another place where they were warm. I only discovered this malfunction when I planted my seeds and the rockwool cubes remained dead cold after 18 hours of presumably heating.I complained to the retailer and the manufacturer immediately shipped a replacement. I asked a friend who is an electrical engineer to take a look at the defective unit. He opened it up. He said that the components are barely welded (cold welded). He was surprised they were still holding together. He said that if you spit and stick them they will hold just as well and that 8-years old children in Russian school radio clubs in the 1970-ies did a better job at welding than the manufacturing factory that made this device in 2015. There was one contact in my device that was detached and associated components burned because the point of contact was missing. The engineer said that he is surprised that the other wires in the device keep together. He said that shaking the device even in shipping would cause those wires to detach.Well, I took a peek and he is right. Hair-like wires barely connected...

works well enough
It doesn't shut off at the temperature that you set the dial too, but once you learn where you want the dial for the temp you want it works just the way its supposed to so i wont complain

Heat mat thermostat
Product is as advertised. Only the temperature control is vague and hard to adjust desirable temp. It is however ok for the money

Easy as pie
I researched several types of thermostats and though I am a fan of digital, I like the simplicity of this model. No buttons to fiddle with. Just turn the dial and you're done.

I like the simple design
I use mine with a Ultratherm undertank heating pad, that I use to heat under my pet hedgehogs cage for the winter months. I wanted a simple design with a knob and didn't want to spend a ton of money. I've been using it for about 6 months and haven't noticed many problems. You need to keep an eye on it though and sometimes the temp needs to be adjusted to be warmer or cooler, but it works.
