Formed by Steve Marriott & Peter Frampton in 1969, Humble Pie were one of the first super group rock bands to form, featuring lead vocalist and guitarist Steve Marriott (Small Faces), vocalist and guitarist Peter Frampton (The Herd), former Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley and a 17-year-old drummer, Jerry Shirley. The box set includes heavyweight 180-gram black vinyl with replica artwork from the time including original die-cut sleeves and inners. Download card included.

One of the best Rock bands to come out of England!
A super group of some of the finest musicians from England and this set collects the best of their best! For one thing in addition to their more well-known albums, Street Rats, their final A&M release long out of print is included here. The 8th disc featuring singles and rarities is alone worth the price of the entire box set and all of these albums are beautifully remastered in stellar sound! You'll find reviews bitching about the lack of original artwork but the packaging I thought was well done and included is an informative hard back book which together with the CD'S makes this an exceptional bargain. I would have liked the original album art as well but it certainly wasn't and shouldn't be a deal breaker. What's included is well worth the investment and if you love this band as much as I do jump on this before it's gone forever! You will not regret it.

Fantastic remaster.
Fantastic remaster . . . been looking for the first two A&M LPs in Mint condition for a long time and many attempts. The only problem I have was that the advertised download card was not present and the set was obviously factory sealed. Onw other drawback, The 'Rockin' The Fillmore' jacket does not have the die cuts of the photo labels.

Must Have!
This is a must have box set if you love Humble Pie and Vinyl. I have played the first 4 albums and they are perfect, no scratches, skips, or surface noise. My only complaint is that the advertised download card is not there. Can someone help me get the code?

Excellent boxed set and remastering (this is for the CD box)
Humble Pie didn't get a lot of love back in the day from critics. Steve Marriott from the Small Faces and Peter Frampton from The Herd joined forces to create a unique mixture of blues hard rocky (with elements of folk on their first two albums).Frampton left after the Live album which left Marriott the sole, true creative force in the band (Greg Ridley also wrote material for the band as did drummer John Shirley but it was truly Marriott's show). The albums began to suffer after "Eat It" as the hard living lifestyle began to take its toll on Marriott. By the end of the band they were a pale shadow of their former selves creating boogie rock that didn't quite have the same quality songwriting that made their early work so memorable. This deluxe set gathers their A&M years recordings (though it doesn't include the expanded live album that was put out about six years ago) up to and including the last recordings that Marriott made with the band. There's a bonus disc with b-sides and some single edits also included as well as a deluxe hardcover book with Chris Welch providing background on each album and an overview of the band's career.Let’s be honest-by the time of “Eat ait”, the band was on a steep decline in quality of songwriting. On any given night, they could still be great live (though they has their off nights as well where they could be terrible) but the quality of the songwriting and increasing disinterest from Marriott was reflected in declining songwriting and a full 4 cover songs from their last studio album for A&M. Marriott would gain renewed interest in recording with his solo album after the break up. It also helped with his brief renewed interest in Humble Pie when it was reformed (at least live) but the two albums that Marriott recorded for Atco just further demonstrated Marriott needed a strong collaborator and someone who could call him on recording poor songs.Drawbacks? Well if you want each CD housed in individual cardboard sleeves or jewel cases, you’re out of luck. So, the discs slide into two cardboard holders that slide onto the hard outer case. The remastering by Kevin Reeves with assistance from Andy Pearce and Matt Worthington is excellent for the set. This measures a bit smaller than an LP in terms of dimensions and is about as thick as three or four LPs. The individual albums are packaged in large cardboard sleeves with slots for each one (sadly there isn't a cardboard sleeve for each individual album with the original artwork.Overall, this is a nice set for fans and the remastered sound make it essential.

Humble Pie Boxed Set
Great sounding remasters!! Nice boxed set and a nice book comes with it. Minor drawback is the CD storage.
