This product does exactly what it is intended to do, at half the cost of other brands! Plus, you only have to change the filter every 10-12 months. Which i think is outstanding. Especially at this price..My hair is 50 times softer, my skin is not peeling from dryness, my shower is cleaner, my breathing is better, everything that this product has done for my family and I has been incredible!I have thick, dry curly hair....and without this product, when i go take showers elsewhere, it's INSANE. My skin and hair are horribly dry.. Now i use less than half of the conditioner i used to use..and my hair is INCREDIBLE!!! SO soft, and so much more manageable there is no comparison. Night and day.A MUST for people who want to better the quality of their hair, skin, and life, Just absolutely GREAT!

Bought a cheaper brand name option but it didn't fit so had to go with the original. Expensive but I've had one for years now, still works well. We back-wash the filter at 6 months and get more use out of it.

I've had one of these in my shower filter going back to 2007 and when it wore out, I replaced it with the same brand. I chose it for the combination of filter media it uses (granulated activated carbon-- aka GAC) and a couple others, being a good value, and having owned a countertop drinking water filter made by the same company. Another reviewer mentioning "dirt" inside is likely referring to carbon dust, which is normal with any filter using activated carbon (which is what absorbs many chemical compounds and odors). All such filters should be rinsed thoroughly prior to use, to get rid of excess/loose (and harmless) carbon dust. This is not only mentioned in the instructions for this particular filter, but typically also by a big sticker or extra notice in the packaging as well. It's just a step in getting it ready for use-- rinse it under the tap, hook it up, set up a bucket in the tub to catch the first spurts of black-colored water, and let it run another minute or two til the water runs clear. Then enjoy your filtered shower water, with less chlorine and fewer contaminants being absorbed into your skin & hair. The black carbon water is said to be good for plants, so you can use that as well. Overall it's a fine filter-- there are larger & higher capacity ones out there, but I think this one is a good value and a great starter filter.

We live on a hundred year old farm. The well is probably just as old. We have a problem with hydrogen sulfide in the water supply. It is so strong it will make you feel sick. This is the only filter we have found that makes the smell tolerable so that we may bath. Definitely recommend if you are facing the same issue!

After using an entire roll of teflon tape, and taking it on and off several times to stop the drip leaking, having the casing come apart mid shower because it moved when we adjusted the shower head, etc, etc. Then a few months later, happened again, so we just have a rag around it to stop spraying issues and are going with a different design type next time. Sort of a hassle. Then after only a few months, need another filter. Needs a redesign but otherwise was good and better than no filter. We miss the Berkey brand shower filters, they were so durable and lasted much longer.

Every since I installed one of these in our shower, I've noticed my hair and skin have improved drastically. It doesn't filter absolutely all of the rust, but I have some pretty rusty water so I'm very impressed with how much of it it does filter. I can tell by how the shower doesn't get rusty like it used to. I had to replace mine at about 8 months and it probably wouldnt have hurt to do it a little bit sooner but I'm not complaining about that because of how rusty my water is. Very happy with the price and quality.
