To know what you do not know ...
Sooo, I went down to the local big box store to get a replacement threshold insert. They had one size, so I thought one size fits all. Nope, they do not.A picture of my old one compared to this on helped me know this was it. It took five minutes to install after prep. It appears to be a great product and fits perfectly.A few thoughts ...Preparation is everything. Clean the metal plate completely. I used a very slim screwdriver to get any gunk out of the tracks this product fits in. They need to be cleaned out. (I followed up with a box cutter.) Then the new strip will fit in as it should.Measure the width you need before you buy. They offer several widths.Write the product company name and item number on the bottom of the rubber strip with a permanent marker. It will help next time.

Easy Threshold Seal Replacement That Restored a Tight Door Seal
I used this M-D Building Products vinyl weatherstrip insert to replace a worn threshold seal on an exterior door, and it restored the seal much better than I expected. The old insert had become brittle and flattened over time, allowing drafts and small amounts of water intrusion during heavy rain. Once installed, the new insert immediately created a tighter seal against the bottom of the door.The vinyl material was flexible enough to install without excessive effort, and trimming it to the correct length was straightforward. The dimensions matched my threshold channel properly, which is important because replacement inserts can vary quite a bit depending on the threshold style. After installation, the door still opened and closed smoothly without excessive drag.What I appreciated most is that this provided an inexpensive repair instead of replacing the entire threshold assembly. I had a hard time finding the right one as this house is older. Finally found the right one. Didn't know what kind or brand threshold I had. Read reviews that said this worked for their older houses so I gave it a go. Went in easily. The hard part was taking the old one out that was hard and brittle and over 30yrs old. That took a couple hours. This went in like a glove in about a min 😮👏

Great quality, exactly what I needed.
Older home, front door threshold seal was gone. After some quick education, I figured out what seal I needed. I got the 1 3/8” x 1/2” x 36” seal and it wasn’t wide enough but just about wide enough. The height and length are spot on, I think whoever installed the threshold didn’t do it right. A few dabs of construction adhesive holds it down well and should be easily removed in the future if needed. I didn't take away any stars because the part itself is 10/10 and doesn’t feel cheap.

This replacement fits! But alas...
Original was flexible and thinner material.This product looks and fits exact! Which is great, because these are hard to find for older threshholds!!But, They make em' way too good! Hardly any flex. The door will not close. Not even close to it! Stops the door like a brick! It is exactly the same size, as my old one which is all worn out, and has been in use since new, 30 years ago. This new model's flexible "tube top" part is made of stiff, thick vinyl, which will hardly deshape, and scrunch down, even if I heat it with blow drier, and stomp on it with over 200 lbs. So, its a futile disapointment for me!

Works as described. Installing is a lot easier if you have a heat gun (a hair dryer would also work) to soften the material as you install it. Also need a small flat head screwdriver to work the edge of the material down into the groove of the door sill.
