Automotive Service: Inspection, Maintenance, Repair 5th Edition

A great guide and introduction to Automotive Technologies. A wealth of information. Wish I had this five years ago. It would have complimented "YouTube U" very nicely.

I’ve been working on my cars for the last 2 years performing basic maintenance and have been more interested to know everything about how automobiles work under a microscope so I chose this book and I’ve been very pleased that it’s kept me reading... i hope to absorb as much as I can and will take an ASE test even though I won’t get a “certification” because I lack commercial work experience. If I do pass then that proves this book is good. If I don’t I’ll get the practice ASE tests and take it again just for the heck of it.

I am an experienced technician trying to keep up with new technology. This book explains things that did not exist when I went to school. Also a good review for my ASE recertification test that is coming up. This book would be excellent for the automotive student learning the basics.This book does not have the specific information you would find in a service manual for a particular car.

This may be the most comprehensive automotive service book for the general public. Some engineering and math related explanation are off. A least one gross typos every chapter.

Needed this for college. Gives you some good basic information. It also gives information on parts and suppliers. You also get an idea of what it’s like to be a mechanic, some of things expected, tools you’ll use, and chemicals you’ll deal with. The only thing negative I can say is it is heavy, this is a thick book, almost 2000 pages.

I use this book as a learning tool and reference when working on my vehicles. Service manuals are pretty good as how-to guides but short on theory. Great explanations, figures, pictures, etc.

The book is really nice,came in mint condition,well packaged.

Amazing details. Explains history and explains technical detail well. Covers just about everything you'd want to learn regarding automotive information.
