Classic Hardanger (Milner Craft Series)

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and looking thru this beautiful book. It has lots of much needed information and lovely projects to make. However, when trying to make a project from it I was not sure how to transition from one set of stitches to another or in which direction to go to keep from always having to run the thread under the stitches on the back side. It would have been very helpful if the author had just placed some arrows to show in what direction to go. She did give the starting point but that was all. I know there is a certain direction to go in order to eliminate the confusion of "where do I go next" to keep from threads showing on the backside. Otherwise the book was great.

This book is wonderful! It answered most of my questions about how to actually begin this type of embroidery. It covered all the most important questions as to fabric choice, needle size, thread size, etc. It also shows what the back of the work should look like, how to end a thread and start a new one, where to place a waste knot, etc. Everything someone new to this type of embroidery would need to know.The projects begin with the most basic and proceed to the more complex and difficult. If a person were to pick one of each of the categories of projects (the first project has no thread cutting, but is lovely nonetheless)and actually complete them, that person could become quite adept at this type of embroidery and have an enjoyable skill for a lifetime.This is definitely what I, as a complete novice, was looking for!

Clear instructions taking you from easy to difficult. Love the designs, and as a newbie to hardanger I found this book to be very helpful. Very glad I bought it.

I like this book BUT I ordered another book by this author, Gina Marion called Decorative Designs in Hardanger in this same order. Different title, different cover, SAME BOOK. I am totally disgusted by this deception. No way to know until they arrived.

Cant wait to start learning the technique

This book was very helpful in regards to the many stitches that are used in many patterns. I will use it as a reference for future projects I have in mind. It also has some patterns that are really nice.

I found the book to be so good as a manual for hardanger. It was delivered within two days of ordering.... Just brilliant

題名には「クラシック」と付いていますが、白布、白糸という組み合わせは殆どなく、濃い布地に生成り糸や、マーブルスレッド、またリボン刺繍やフランス刺繍との組み合わせやビーズ使いなど、日本のハーダンガーの本には無いアレンジの仕方が多く、参考になります。製図を見れば、だいたい作ることが出来ますが、使用する糸や針の指示やステッチの指示等は文章を見ないと分からないので、英語が全く分からない方にはちょっと辛いものがあるかもしれません。どれも可愛らしい作品が多いのでどれを作ろうか迷ってしまいそうです。
