This is exactly what I have been looking for!
This is the book that I have been waiting for! As I reflect on my years as a parent, teacher, instructional coach, principal, director of leadership development, assistant superintendent of curriculum & instruction, and assistant superintendent of human resources, I have longed for a resource that not only would get straight to the heart of teaching and learning, but could also be used in both high achieving school systems and those struggling school districts. Kristyn has hit a home run with her book, “Every Student, Every Day: A No-Nonsense Nurturer Approach To Reaching All Learners.” This text provides a pathway for educators at all levels and roles to achieve success in facilitating and accelerating student achievement, and continued self-development.Every new teacher should be given a copy by HR, and every veteran teacher should be provided a copy by their site administrator. The No-Nonsense Nurturer helps teachers engage in:• Deliberate reflection• Building deep connections with their students• Effective communication• Changing and building new habits of mind• A simple, yet powerful, approach to classroom management• How to be a strong yet caring teacherIt also allows for issues of race, class, and culture to be leveraged as a developmental process of building trust, equity, and effective communication towards high academic achievement.Principals evaluate their staff, but the successful ones also wear the hat of a coach. This book is of great value to principals in both roles. As a coach and evaluator, it supports you in assisting your staff with:• Processing their work and seeing it through an outside lens• Setting achievable incremental growth goals• Framing immediate feedback based upon your observations• Supporting new ways of “being” for your evaluatees.I love the way that it can support administrators to know what to look for outside of (and deeply within) dry standards, and give immediate feedback in a way that a staff member can work on immediately. As a site administrator, this is what I would want to see if I walk in the door of all of my classrooms. It also addresses the “Just tell me what to do” syndrome in a way that balances the instructional (ways of doing) in a way that leads to the transformational (ways of being) development of the teacher and student.I think you can tell just how excited that I am to have found this book! This text should be a part of all Teacher Prep and Administrative credential programs. I will certainly be drawing upon it in my current role as an educational consultant.

A pragmatic and powerful methodology, delivered with heart...extendable beyond the classroom.
I was first exposed to Klei Borrero’s No Nonsense Nurturing work when I heard the segment about her work with the Charlotte public school district on NPRs “All Things Considered.” I was immediately struck by the methodology's way of striking a balance between being tough on students and holding them to a high performance bar while maintaining an authenticity that recognizes the students' potential.I’m not an educator in the classroom; I am a program manager in a cross-functional role at a leading tech company. In order to be successful in my work, I rely on other teams that don’t report to me to meet their deadlines. In a resource-constrained environment with always-competing priorities, this poses a challenge. I cannot be successful if others do not deliver their work on time. I have applied several concepts from the No Nonsense Nurturing methodology, particularly the accountability systems and ‘stay in the game’ conversations, to create the proper collaborative environment and shared sense of ownership for my projects. Since implementing these strategies, I have observed a profound shift in how these extended team members interact with me, for the better.I recommend this book to anyone looking to elevate the level of performance of their students or teams.

EVERY TEACHER needs "Every Student Every Day"
Simply put, if you aren't a No-Nonsense Nurturer, you aren't giving your students all they deserve. If I had this resource in my hands back when I started teaching, my entire journey would have been different. I have had the honor of seeing this work implemented in schools and it is the most powerful, transformational change I have ever seen. When teachers implement this in their classrooms, the culture shifts immediately, students feel empowered, cared for and challenged, and everyone truly can be set up for success. Klei-Borrero walks the reader through the journey of understanding what holds us back as educators from being No-Nonsense Nurturers and then concisely and clearly outlines HOW to get there. The thing is, it seems simple but it's not easy to implement...this mindset stuff she talks about is no joke! It matters and the activities and reflections in the book are an awesome resource not just for teachers but for an entire staff to do as a book study. This is one of the resources EVERY educator needs to have in their tool kit.

Best classroom management guide I know
I've been a fan of this framework ever since I learned about it almost 10 years ago. I'm thrilled that Kristyn Klei Borrero has written this book to introduce more people to this powerful toolkit for improving classroom management.I'd recommend this book to any teacher, administrator, or other educator who needs to think about effective school culture. When I learned about the No-Nonsense Nurturer framework, I was given a way to see what made effective classroom management work in real life, and it has made me much more aware about the specific, concrete ways that teachers can create happy, thriving classrooms. The author has become a friend since we met professionally as through her work, and I have found her insights to be consistently inspiring and useful. I'm so happy that more people will get to read this excellent book --which I found most informative even with the background information I had, and which would also be completely accessible and useful to someone who was not familiar with this framework.Very highly recommended to people in education.
