Reviews are more valuable if you know something about the person writing them, so- I'm new to woodturning, with only three months experience- I only turn pen blanks, with stock ranging from domestic to exotic hardwoods- The tools I replaced were very cheap tools from PSISo, with those things in mind, I absolutely love the Easy Start Rougher. Others have dinged it for the carbide insert being dull, but compared to the PSI HSS roughing gouge I was using, this thing is a razor. I do agree with other reviewers that the tool bar is very short, but for pen turning, it's about right. I chose this tool because of the high quality and low price. If I continue to turn pens, I'd consider getting the mid-sized Easy tools.

Thanks to Hartville Hardware for the quick shipping and delivery. It arrived faster than expected! I ordered this to be able to have a negative carbide and standard carbide insert tool ready without constantly changing inserts as I turn pens in wood and acrylic. The tools work exactly as described and are very comfortable to use. This is my 4th easy wood carbide insert tool. Buy it you will not be disappointed. I will definitely purchase again should I need another.

Feels like a quality tool. I bought this and the finisher to turn pens with. I’m not big on sharpening and thought these would be perfect for me. So far so good. I would definitely recommend these chisels to a beginner who cringes at the thought of ruining an expensive new chisel because they didn’t sharpen at the correct angle.When one side dulls, just turn the blade to another side. When all four sides are dull, replace with a new blade. Easy peasy.

This is a very good lathe tool for the money. I needed a spare rougher, because I wanted one with a radius, which would cut more smoothly than the square edged one that came with my woodturning tool set. This one, with an optional radiused cutter fills the bill nicely.

Bought for pen turning. Good quality throughout. Carbide insert very sharp, made turning Dymondwood and Trustone easy. Took the insert out and lubed the set screw with sewing machine oil before re-assembling. I hope this will make removal of the insert trouble-free when I have to change it out.

I bought this primarily for pen making as well as other small kit projects. Using my hss turning tools worked OK but I this new tool works great. I have a lot less tearout and much cleaner turnings so less sanding. I do recommend getting the radius cutter s the corners are much less likely to catch and ruin a piece. Well worth the cost of the tool.

If you are new to turning and want to get started quickly the full lineup of these are fantastic. You can pick these up and go right to the lathe with no learning curve at all.

Habe eine kleine Holzmann Drechselbank. Mit großem Werkzeug kommt man von der Stirnseite schwer dran. Mann könnte den Reitstock abnehmen aber das ist im Workflow nervig, da umständlich.Die Tools von Easy Wood Tools sind TOP! Scharf wie Bolle und machen ihre Arbeit super. So macht dem Hobbydrechsler das Arbeiten auch wieder Spaß. Ohne teures Werkzeug kriegt man die regulären Drechseleisen nicht wirklich scharf. Was ich da an Ärger und Nerven verloren haben...Hätte ich die Tool schon vorher gekannt, hätte ich mir einiges erspart.Sie sind ihren Preis Wert. Habe alle 3. Rund, Quadrat und Spitze. Für meine kleine Drechseleien super.

Dieses Werkzeug ist top. Habe mir auch die anderen Werkzeuge aus dieser Serie geholt. Alles super.

Kann bisher nichts Negatives sagen , macht was es soll

Outil très interessant pour le tournage du bois . Facilite le travail surtout pour les debutants comme moi .Attention outil tres efficace sur le bois . Utiliser avec prudence surtout au debut .
