Great introduction to a difficult topic
I am normally not a fan of the Nutshell series because they tend to say too-little about the subject to be useful and the organization of the topics tends to be somewhat disjointed, but I quite enjoyed this volume. I am taking International Taxation with Professor Steines at New York University School of Law, and read this over the summer as a quick introduction to get my bearings. The topics are well-organized, and are concise without being too curt. You can read the book straight through, or just read the chapters as you need them.Professor Steines, I should note, recommended this volume as a "good explanation of very basic principles." For a slightly more advanced introduction to the material, Professor Steines recommended Lawrence Lokken's "Fundamentals of International Taxation." He also spoke highly of Joseph Eisenberg's book on the subject, published by Foundation Press.

This will be a great way to fill in the gaps in my notes ...
This is a really helpful supplement to go along with a problem-based international tax class. It breaks down each aspect of international taxation into manageable nuggets of background information and gives rationale behind the law before diving into more in depth analysis of how each section of the code works. This will be a great way to fill in the gaps in my notes when I was trying to catch up to what the professor was saying (or when my mind drifted for a minute).

Useful introduction book in international taxation
The book is really a good introduction to international taxation. However, not many practical examples are included (the author has address the intention in the beginning.) If you have already known about international taxation, the book is a good summary to help connect the basic logic and concepts. If not, I still highly recommend the book to be used as a summarized introduction.

Four Stars
As expected, thank you.

Excellent addition to a tax library.
Concise, readable, and sufficiently detailed to answer most questions regarding the U. S. taxation of foreign related transactions. Although I would have liked to see more coverage of the OECD Model Tax Treaty, I am satisfied overall.

Good starting point
A book which in simple and well-structered manner intoduces you to US view on international taxation; even if you are a foreign counsel and don't have any background in that.

Was crucial for summarizing some tricky concepts. I would buy it as a student and keep hold of it for practice.

USA tax and International tax
This is a book that relates USA tax to International tax in the context of the Fedral Tax System It is not a book that discusses 'International Tax' as such.
