I, like most of my generation, grew up reading Calvin and Hobbs but I had forgotten about it as I got older. My 9 year old discovered it at a friend's house and fell in love. The truly remarkable thing is that she is dyslexic and has really struggled with reading. I have tried to find a book that would speak to her little soul and help her to discover a love for reading but hadn't found one until Calvin and Hobbs entered her life.She now reads it every single night, and it has been so fun to hear her laugh and truly enjoy what she is reading. It has made all the difference in her reading skills and consequently her confidence has grown exponentially. I cannot recommend this book more for the struggling reader or any kid who would like to laugh and enjoy the silly little world that is Calvin and Hobbs.

The comics are timeless with select stories from Calvin & Hobbes. The book itself has been used over and over again and I appreciate its sturdiness. After years of use, it is now showing signs of wear and tear but it is still completely useable and readable. The stories in this collection have become my kids' favorites--so much so that we ended up buying another copy for a friend. So we obviously recommend!

The graphics is fantastic, but there is a great moral story going on here besides the humor.Calvin and Hobbies is a super learning tool for young children to learn how to read.If you are a parent you must get this book. I had all copies when my children were young, and gave them away when my grandkids outgrew them. I am 81 now and rereading them again and laughing out loud. You will not be sorry.

I got this, and all the other Calvin + Hobbes books for my dad, as he used to have a lot of them before my ex stepmother took them in their divorce a few years ago. I grew up stealing those books from him to read, and we had a lot of good memories around those books and reading them together. He loved them, and the comics are still as amazing as I remember them being <3

Calvin and Hobbes never disappoints. Bill watterson is an amazing author, and Calvin and Hobbes shows that. This book is amazingly funny, witty, and a good length, so check it out.

I love Calvin and Hobbes, but I'm a bit disappointed in the Kindle Edition of this collection. The first two collections I read and reviewed, _Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat_ and _Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons_, had the wonderful ability to "zoom in" on the panels to enjoy the wonderful details of one of the best comics ever created. This digital edition of _The Essential Calvin and Hobbes_ doesn't support that feature and I really missed it. I'm using and older Kindle Fire HDX 7" and I missed being able to zoom in on all the lush little details, particularly on the wonderfully complex full-color Sunday edition strips. I still enjoyed the wonderfully funny--and sometimes surprisingly poignant (for example the little raccoon story and the woodlands being destroyed)--content, but alas, I missed zooming in on details. Also, as stated in my other two reviews, the ability to bookmark favorite panels for easy revisiting would be a big plus! Overall, it's still a delight and I'd recommend it to long-time fans as a "must-have" purchase, as well as those that are newer to Calvin and Hobbes.

Having always been a fan of Calvin and Hobbes, I jumped at the chance to get it on Kindle.The content is exactly as stated (the first two books combined I believe) and the colors were great. Calvin and Hobbes is great because it is funny on so many levels. As a kid, I used to laugh at the funny things Calvin used to do. Now that I'm an adult, I laugh because I understand a lot of the cultural/political references better and because I can see how funny the disconnect is between the imagination of a child and the reality-based world of adulthood. This is comedy at its finest.The only complaint I had was the format. When I first opened it on my Kindle Fire HD, a tutorial-like screen popped up to show me how to zoom and move from slide to slide. It worked the first time I had it open, but when I opened the book again, it went back to normal book viewing mode (wouldn't zoom or anything). This wasn't an issue, but occasionally the words were small enough that I had to squint a little to read them.Another very minor complaint was that the orientation of the page wasn't the way I wanted it. I like to lock the screen into portrait or landscape mode while reading sometimes so I can read with it sideways while lying in bed, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to lock the way I wanted it.In summary, this gets 5 out of 5 stars because the content is great and my complaints were only for very minor things. I would definitely get this again in a heartbeat.

I grew up reading these books so this is a nice bit of nostalgia. Funny and entertaining as always.

Bill Watterson was a fantastic cartoonist and observer of life. Calvin and Hobbes are one of the great comic inventions. This collection has some of the funniest strips he wrote in it. Recommend to everyone.

Calvin & Hobbes comics are fantastic reading for adults more than youngsters.. the imagination behind so many of the panels is extremely fascinating
