Join Monkey D. Luffy and his swashbuckling crew in their search for the ultimate treasure, One Piece! As a child, Monkey D. Luffy dreamed of becoming King of the Pirates. But his life changed when he accidentally gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again! Years, later, Luffy sets off in search of the “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world... As a kid, Monkey D. Luffy vowed to become King of the Pirates and find the legendary treasure called the "One Piece." The enchanted Gum-Gum Fruit has given Luffy the power to stretch like rubber--and his new crewmate, the infamous pirate hunter Roronoa Zolo, strikes fear into the hearts of other buccaneers! But what chance does one rubber guy stand against Nami, a thief so tough she specializes in robbing pirates...or Captain Buggy, a fiendish pirate lord whose weird, clownish appearance conceals even weirder powers? It's pirate vs. pirate in the second swashbuckling volume of One Piece ! Review: Story flow is better - One Piece has recently become my favorite anime. Up to date with episodes, but I felt I couldn’t call myself a fan if I didn’t read the manga. I’ve never read a manga before so I was hesitating. Long story short, it’s even better than the anime. Completely recommend reading it. Review: Son loves it - Son loved the book! He is really in to one piece, got him off the Xbox and actually reading

Hooked!
I am happy to report that I had a much easier time reading this the way you're supposed to than I did last time. Plot: I really enjoyed this plot and remember liking it in the anime, too. It's been so long since I've seen the beginning of the anime that I don't remember how closely it follows the manga, but it seems to be close. I adore the side story of Chouchou the most but I also like the addition of Nami. Setting: The overall setting of One Piece, when piracy is in it's golden age, is always fun. Best part in this one is the Pet Food Store that Chouchou guards. Characters: Luffy is just as funny as in the last one. Getting used to calling Zorro "Zolo" but I loved his attitude in this one. "Oh, I have a bad wound, I'll just sleep and it will be better soon. Oh, I'm just going to cut myself to give you a handicap in this fight." Nami is one of my favorites and I love her mischievous attitude. I also like that she has issues with pirates due to her past but is seeing how different Luffy and Zolo are. I admire the mayor for trying to defend his town and also for taking care of Chouchou. Buggy was a funny, dramatic villain. And of course, I adore Chouchou, though the fact he no longer has an owner makes me sad. Relationships: I liked seeing Luffy and Nami interact, though it mostly went like this: Luffy: Join my pirate crew! Nami: You're a pirate? I HATE PIRATES! Luffy: C'mon! There will be treasure! Nami: $$$$$ Well maybe I'll help...but I'm not a pirate! Writing/Voice: Overall enjoyable lines, a few made me a chuckle. I really like the one where the mayor says he'll buy pet food to eat and the pet food owner makes a joke about him looking like a dog. Ending: Much of a "to be continued" than before, but felt it ended well. Overall, I loved it. The story and characters are interesting, there's funny lines, and some of the art is amazing. I especially like the chapter art because it's creative.

One Piece, Vol 2
I quite enjoyed this second “book” of this series. As Luffy is still working on getting his crew his is imprisoned and has to face Captain Buggy and his crew. Buggy has also eaten of a devil fruit so he is just as special as Luffy himself. We also see Zolo fight a bit more and now I am curious as to how many Devil Fruits there are. I quite enjoyed the digital comic of this, it was easy to follow and easy to bring with me anywhere. Can’t wait to read more of his series.

ONWARD!!!
I finally decided to start collecting ONE PIECE manga....9 years after it's published in the US of A. =P Anyway, volume 2 continues the excitement from volume one, adding the crew of Buggy the Clown. We get to see two of them fight Zoro and Luffy in detail, and learn a very little bit more about Nami. While the Strawhat's run in with Buggy's Pirates might not see like much now, you'll want to remember them for the future. They do show up again. The only gripe I have concerns VIZ's translation. I much prefer the internet scanlations because they preserve the original dialogue, or what FEELS more like what the original would be. (I don't know cuz I can't read Japanese. Wish I could.) The book is rated TEEN, for pity's sake, so translate it as-is. It's not like swearing is a totally new thing...we hear it all the time. It's only a minor annoyance overall; not enough to lower my rating. If you can handle that and the mispelling of Zoro's name(VIZ uses Zolo), by all means buy the book!

Ahh.... Buggy...
The Rubberman continues to destroy homes, attempt to be pirate, make friends, and ruin top pirate's good days. Buggy is laughable fruit user and I can't say I wasn't expect a circus pirate group. With Oda I'm noticing you can never be sure what's coming or what will be in his comics. There are no boundaries and his characters make you feel like they're real people without being pretentious or overbearing. Art work is clean, dependable, and detailed. I really admire his ability to give each character their own look. Even the ones that don't really matter. Everyone matter as One Piece barrels forward and I look forward to more!

Even better than the first!
I loved Volume 1, but I would have to say that One piece volume 2 has managed to top the first volume in my opinion. Its a fun filled adventure that would brighten my day anytime. As well as getting to see more of Luffy and Zoro/Zolo this volume introduces Nami a bit more as well as this adventures antagonist Buggy the clown. It contains a good amount of 'random towns persons backstory' and Luffy and Zolo showing how ridiculously awesome they are. Especially Zoro as he probably gets the biggest fight of the volume. The only thing I'd say could be considered a downside to this volume is that, as usual for one piece (I think the manga, but definitely the anime) it does end on a bit of a cliff hanger, and you're Gonna have to wait for next volume to see Luffy kick the snot out of Buggy (That's not a spoiler because I haven't read the next volume, I'm just pretty sure that's what's Gonna happen) Another small point, my sister was complaining recently about all the adds and random pictures at the end of a lot of graphic novels, taking up pages that could have been used for story (I don't really mind them myself). Well this one only has 6 sides of this, 3 of which are for a (rather stupid IMHO) cut and colour Luffy. So there isn't much of it. This book is good. If you read the first one, you should definitely read this one.
