Oatey Gasket for Tapping into Cast Iron Soil Pipe

I needed to install a second floor toilet in an circa 1860s wood frame house with 4" cast iron soil pipe. The vertical ci was in a 6" square pipe chase with no way to remove a section to install ci hubless wye fitting. The Oatey 43796 fit perfectly although it took me two days with a 3" hole saw to breech the ci pipe. The job was finished with 3" pvc connecting the closet flange.

Doing what I expected. No leaks. Good seal.

This is simply a rectangular piece of 3/16" thick foam gasket material that is about 7" tall by 6" wide and nothing more. The picture that shows the saddle tee kit (as of this writing) is simply misleading, but it at least shows you what it goes with. You will need to cut the hole in this material. It's a bit surprising that it costs more than the saddle tee kit itself because it looks like it should cost about 50 cents. I haven't installed it yet, but I assume it will create a reasonable seal.
