Strongly recommend
I recommend this book for all teachers, even veteran teachers. I found myself highlighting and making my own notes. I really appreciate the book. Reading this book gives me a renewed positive energy to head back into the classroom.

Essential reading for every teacher
This approach has restored the high level of joy and satisfaction that both I, as the teacher, and my students feel about our time together in the classroom.

The best classroom management advice I have found
I stumbled upon Michael Linsin's blog about five years ago and started reading. I am a kindergarten teacher and my biggest strength is managing young children and creating a happy classroom family. I'm not even sure how I do it, I just seem to have a bit of a gift for it. Anyway, as I started reading Michael's blog I found myself saying, "I do that!" and "I agree!" So I kept reading and reading and I can honestly say that I haven't found a single thing that seems like a bully, as one reviewer mentioned. I know from personal experience that the more structure you give children, and the more you hold them accountable, the happier they are and the more they love you, and love school. I still have plenty of room for improvement on Mr. Linsin's techniques and ideas, which is why I purchased the book, but I can honestly say that my students are happy and feel that I like them. One way I know this for sure is that I gave them an anonymous survey about their school experience and one question asked them to fill in a smiley or frowny face if they thought their teacher liked them. Every single student filled in the smiley. If you are a Love and Logic fan, like me, then you will find this book to be very helpful. But if you are a fan of ignoring poor behavior, or picking your battles, or repeating direction a million times, or showering children with praise when they do something that should be expected, then you will not like this book.

Unlike anything else I've seen.... excited to try it!
I am so excited to use these techniques this year. I am in the somewhat unique situation of becoming a teacher for a group of students I subbed for several times last year.... and they were TERRIBLE. Being the sub, I was given almost no classroom management tips, not enough work to keep them busy, and by the end of each day, I was so frazzled and DONE. I knew that I would have to start the coming year much different in order to reign in the chaos and show them that the wimpy sub is gone. Thankfully I came across his blog, and now this book. I read it twice in a row! I'll come back and edit my review after trying to implement Michael's techniques... but so far everything just feels RIGHT. Thank you!!

Knowing my job- is IT! To protect their right to learn and to enjoy school- it is everything!!
Amazing guiding principles to inspire students (and me) to my best. I loved the ideas on not taking misbehavior personal and guarding your work time productivity in order to get home to our families! The SCM articles I subscribe to are great review throughout the year but the book is now one of my MUST reads every summer as part of my own prep. Thank you for the plan to be the teacher who writes on the pages of who my students are becoming; changing trajectories!

Excellent book, excellent author
The Smart Classroom Management way is a collection of extremely worthy blogs. This makes it an easy read, along with Michael Linsin's straight forward approach of laying the material down. While I am reading the book in order, you don't have to. You can skip to the sections in which you are in more need of reading, first. Highly recommended for all teachers in this ever-changing classroom climate.

Specific, concrete methods provided without "flowery" theory.
This book really delivered!I made sure to purchase this book before the beginning of school, and it made a HUGE difference in how I planned, especially the first couple of weeks of new school year, critical! I really believed it changed my mindset about how I wanted to approach my students, and gave me renewed confidence in having a terrific year, so far so good.
