Highly pigmented
I’m still trying to find different ways to work with these pigmented sticks. You do need a robust paper if you want to use them directly on the paper, and the paper needs to be wet.I’ve really enjoyed them on Yupo paper, which when wet, you can really play with abandon with these watercolor sticks.I’ve also used them on Baohong 100% cotton cold press (grain fin) watercolor blocks.Lots of fun. You’ve got to wet the paper though. Baohong cold press (professional grade) can take a good amount of working.I really like these sticks.I also cut little chunks off and affixed them to the inside of an old makeup compact, using gum Arabic as the fixative. It’s a very small compact that can go in your purse without taking up much space or adding much weight.Since these sticks are so highly pigmented, a little goes a long way, especially with small paintings on the go.They’re still new to me and I’m in testing mode with them.I think they’re worth checking out. Start with a stick or two of your favorite colors to see if they add new and good things to your art.Just understand that you cannot use these dry on paper as you would a pastel or water soluble crayon like caran d’ache water soluble crayons.

Came in plastic bag
Very appreciate the wrapping, as this is capable of making a mess if not contained. So...good job Amazon packer!! As far as the paint stick, you can't go wrong with Daniel Smith.

Gorgeous colour!
My new favourite colour. I love the granulation effects of this gorgeous green, that splits into a rusty red and sap green, and it plays nice with ultramarine blue and perylene green (as in the attached watercolour). I bought green apatite at the same time, and use serpentine in preference.

Buy the pan out the tube
Love daniel smith but the socks lack the granulation and separation of the tube and pans. If that's what you are looking for in the specific paint you are buying don't buy the sticks. You aren't saving anything by doing so. Not when the paint doesn't separate or granular as it should.

Much brighter than expected
After watching several YouTube videos and reviews on yellow colors, I bought this one thinking it would be a warm, mid sunny yellow. I suppose this could be considered a warm yellow compared to Lemon yellow but make no mistake, this is a very BRIGHT shade, pretty much neon level at full strength lol. I’ll be trying Hansa Yellow Deep or maybe yellow ochre instead.

Can be divided into pans!
I have a set of watercolor half-pans by Daniel Smith, and the stick format makes it really easy to transfer the pigment in half or complete pans. It's the same pigment as the one used in tubes, and I don't have to wait for it to dry. The stick was very dry though, and I had to let it pick up moisture next to a water bowl in a plastic container for a few days, but it was possible to cut it with a palette knife. Great product, and the color is beautiful!

Nice colour, good value.
Opera pink is a beautiful hue. It’s not one that’d be easy to mix with a traditional watercolour palette, if at all. It’s pretty close to the colour shown in the image, but not quite as vibrant. Good value for money and the quality is nice and consistent.
