An absolute godsend for any cat owner
I have used a few different types of brushes to help my cat’s shedding, most recently I got a special grooming comb which I thought did a pretty good job UNTIL I tried the Zoom Groom. It gets a deeper groom more quickly and since it’s soft my cat doesn’t get as overstimulated as quickly, and she doesn’t get dandruff from the comb scratching on her skin!

Baxter loves it!
This works well and the teeth are so soft and flexible. We had been using a wire brush and that did not go over well, even with the soft tips. This one he won’t walk away from, and I can just hold it and he rubs his face and head on it. So much better than fighting to keep him around for brushing. Should have had this years ago!!

My cats love the Zoom Groom!
July 27,2016 Major Revision of original reviewI have learned a great deal about grooming my two Burmese Cats, whom I purchased eight years ago from a CFA-approved groomer, who, in fact, had never socialized (allowed the kittens to see and relate to people) because she kept all her cats in a cage, all stuck together. In short, she abused her cats and caring for them was a challenge. The Zoom Groom by Gong has helped me make them almost normal Burmese cats and I do not exaggerate when I say that! The first 4 years were difficult but through the use of certain products, I was able to socialize my cats, at least to to where they are now: loving, playful cats who enjoy my husband's and my company, and even occasionally even come out of their rooms to greet visitors. One major problem for them was that they had never been brushed.Once I figured out that I should groom them only if they wanted to be groomed, all went much better. This little gizmo was a savior! The cat who's being groomed lies on his window shelf and I rub him/her all over, with my hands, giving the cat a massage and in doing so, losing all the hair that should be removed.I then start to rub the Zoom Groom in circles on the cats side. I can see them relax, right before my eyes. Next, I remove any hair I've already collected with the ZG and then start brushing the cat, removing copious amounts of hair. Mind you, these are cats who have one layer of hair! When I finally realized what my female cat was trying to tell me, I also do under the cat's chin. They both enjoy that, but she would let me do it all day! Then I continue as described until the whole cat has been Zoomed. I finish with a couple of other tools I have and I have a a shiny, soft cat who has purred during the whole process.Myy previous reviews indicate how overwhelmed I was when I got two abused cats! We've come a long way!May 29, 2013 Revision of original reviewThis helps to make the weekly brushinng of my two cats a bit less painful. I didn't think the Zoom Groom worked well when I did my first review of it. I now find that even though it doesn't show much hair on it, it actually loosens a great deal of hair. If I use it first, after I massage my cats, it loosens even more hair and I then use a curry brush to remove the hair it's loosened.I think it may be meant for cats with thick coats or multiple layers of fur.I've change my opinion and my rating of the product. It loosens the hair nicely but you need to brush the loose hair out.Still, I believe nothing, short of knocking them out, would make my cats behave when I brush them!

Works well (compared to furminator)
We've been thinking about buying a brush for our short-haired cat for a while. We're pretty cheap so we bought some from the dollar store, but they fell apart on the first use. We weren't surprised. When we saw how "well" the furminator works at petco, I was obsessed with buying it, even though it was so, so expensive compared to everything else. After watching a lot of youtube videos and reading a lot of reviews, I remembered that I used to own a brush like the furminator back in the day and I used it to comb my persians who were always hopelessly matted anyway. Everyone on the reviews kept talking about the furminator cutting and tearing hair, and I remembered that the old comb we had did that too. It's an effective tool to thin hair out on cats like persians so they're not so hopelessly matted. However, on our short-haired cat, we just needed something to get out the dead stuff so that he wouldn't cough up hairballs as much. Yuck! I can't handle that retching sound!Anyway, our cat loved the dollar store brush, so I figured he'd like this one. He only let me comb him for a few minutes before loosing interest and wanting to go away. I could tell he loved it, but was a little too over-stimulated, so I started doing it more slowly, and he liked that. We also keep it in the bathroom now because for some reason he always follows us in there and begs to be petted, so now we just use the zoom groom to pet him, and he likes it in the bathroom. I don't get him, but whatever.Others have said it, and it's true, the more hair you have in there, the quicker the other hairs "lock on" probably because of static electricity. It's not as "satisfying" as the furminator because you're not getting as much at a time, but you really are getting only the dead stuff, it's more gentle. After one use his coat looked better (because of the dead stuff removed) and after about a week of consistent grooming it looks great.TL:DR-Furminator gets more fur because it cuts it-zoom groom works well-after one groom his coat looked better-its cheap and awesome and works.**Update** We moved into a new house and our cats started shedding their winter coats all over everything! We couldn't find our zoomgroom in the mess so again we tried to buy a bunch of different brush options, even ones especially for the undercoat and it seemed to do nothing. Finally we gave in and purchased another zoom groom (only to find the old one a week later. It's that just how it goes?!) And it immediately began to make a difference. Unless we get a long-haired cat, I can't imagine ever using anything other than the zoom groom!

Good Product
My cats love this when i brush them, they even tend to purr. The only issue ive had is that it leaves hair at the base of their tails and can also be a little harder to clean it and get all the hair off. Otherwise works great!

amazing product!
hands down THE BEST grooming tool i have ever used on my fur baby! ragdolls are all fluff & after only 5 minutes of brushing, it removed so much excess hair & will definately save me having to vacuum the rug daily. she really enjoyed the massage too!

Pretty good
One of my cats are ok with it but the other cat hates it. I think that is saying mor about the cat than the brush. It is soft silicone and picks up some of the fluff. I am not sure if a smaller toothed brush would do a better job though. Very easy to clean the hair out.
