WonderArtWonderart Lion Latch Hook Kit, 27" X 40"

I have done several latch hook projects, some of them very large and detailed. This is a beautiful image. I especially like the warm, rich colors. However, some of the colors are extremely difficult to differentiate. The kit shows 13 different colors but I can only make out 12. Some of the colors in the white to light yellow range are especially similar. I was about to toss in the towel on this one, but not being a quitter, I decided to give it a go as I figured colors so close wouldn't really affect the finally outcome. We will see how it goes. One additional point is that the image is NOT on the canvas, so that's another challenge. Luckily, the color guide is very clear.

I got this for me, its a big lion rug and the 12 colors are very bright, but blend very close, this really takes time and making sure you follow the lines of color yarn on the photo. I do a row at a time 10 in a block and use a pen to draw a line through the 10 so I don't lose my place or make a mistake, it really takes time and I love doing it, have done many rugs of all sizes.

This was exactly as described and good value. I was very pleased but I have been doing latch hooking for many year. I don't feel it would be suitable for beginners as the colour changes are numerous and very close in colour.

I bought this for my stepdad. But the yarn is literally bundled together. There's no way for him to tell what color is which without me going through and separating every single piece of yarn. Which I do not have time for.Massive design flaw. Buy a different brand. If you can't see the tiny differences in colors, you will struggle to put this together.

When this kit arrived I was set on going all the way with it no matter what. To "actually" answer the question factually while some of the latch hook kits are geared for children with some adult supervision this one is for the adult, rated skill level intermediate to advanced is accurate and at time seemingly impossible due to the lack of appropriate color yarns included, I have a mountain of two different yellows left over but fell far short in two different brown shades and also very short of dark gold. I did look at the appropriate website to acquire more yarn but it referred to a different site and the colors were simply not there on their list...Okay, that having been said, latch hook rug kits can come with a myriad of problems to be solved, challenges to be surmounted and trials of your patience and perseverance and I knew that and so shopped online for colors I believed to be "lionesque" and close to the shades missing and had fun cat and mouse chasing the clues to a pledged to completion summer project..... Now, seven weeks later after having devoted 2 hours a day to it every day I have completed the pulling part, am pleased and will sew black binding around it to finish it right away. Phew... that was nice. There is nothing printed on the fabric but the grid squares, you must count strands all the way.... it was fun enough and worth the time.

Almost finished with this beauty. With only 13 colors to work with this kit was one of the easiest I’ve ever done. I appreciate that the canvas is blank with grids to guide my work. Preprinted canvas kits are not as accurate as those that use grids. If you can count to 10 you can do this kit.I definitely would recommend this kit for teens and above.I suggest you separate the 13 colors under good lighting, preferably outside and attach a strand next to each color name on the color legend. For as big as this latch hook is I thought it would take me forever. Nope. Just a little over a month, but that is not working on it day and night, only when I had time. I am so impressed of how easy and how beautiful this Lion came out. I am overly excited to get it done, and now to show it off. I love it. I am ready for another big one!!

Really enjoyed doing this project, it took a while, but that is one of the things I liked about it. Found the pattern very easy to follow, the colors were very vibrant, resulting in a beautiful finished project. To make it easier, I found that separating the various colors of yarn into zip lock baggies with the corresponding color and symbol for each color written on the baggie with a marking pen worked really well. If I have one complaint it is that a couple of the colors were not of the same quality of yarn, they were much thinner ply and seemed to unravel making them more difficult to work with.
