SCUM Manifesto

Worth reading
It’s extreme. But, there are some very good points made. I don’t like the forward. I feel like it’s putting words in the authors mouth after the woman has died. Not cool. Intelligent and darkly funny. There are some truths spoken. Worth the read.

It's funny because it's true
It's funny because it's true... but, political agenda aside, it is an enjoyable read. Note: Definitely read the foreword and also have at least some understanding of the topic and a sense of humor. For example, I bought this short, pocket read as a stocking stuffer for my boyfriend (me, his girlfriend, the feminist). He liked it because he's a pretty 'woke' fella but I'd caution distributing the manifesto around to just about anybody unless you're actually organizing the radical revolution.

Surprisingly good revolutionary work
I came for the fun and stayed for the meaning. As a proud male who supports the patriarchy, it was a very difficult reading in the beginning. But the more I read it felt like more than a shallow piece of humor and more as one of the greatest manifests of our time pointing to the ills of modern society, that no one until now was able to put in words. Salute Valerie.

Fantastic
Easily one of the best quick reads for angry women like myself.Valerie hits the nail on the head (almost) every time. The way she writes about how masculinity, capitalism, greed, sex/sexuality, father figures (and more) affect the world we live in is fantastic. Her extremism aside, it is pretty insightful. However, it is important to note that the book was written in the 60’s, when how gender is represented and expressed today is a bit different. To say that some of her writing in the book can come off as “terfy” is an understatement.Be warned that some of this book is a bit insensitive and extreme when it comes to her views on trans women. She’s very black and white when it comes to the way she views gender. I don’t mean to completely write it off as Valerie being a byproduct of her time period and environment nor am I saying to simply look past her blatant transphobia but it’s best to keep an open mind.Overall, it’s a pretty good book. And although I don’t agree with all of her points and statements, she still writes some really great stuff in her manifesto.

It’s made to be funny to take the heat off what most women know ...
I couldn’t stop reading this manifesto. It’s made to be funny to take the heat off what most women know to be truth. Gender wars down to how chromosomes interact with each other. Men have been awake to the plight of women’s condition, women have been held hostage under patriarchy. Men and women are NOT equal at all, if women took the time to study chromosomes and the current condition of the Y chromosome it is in a males nature to be parasitic and deceitful for his genetic survival, they literally can’t help it.

A book ahead of its time
Rereading this manifesto nowadays is impressive how ahead of its time it was. Besides, it is a delightful read in terms of how each paragraph contains an interesting insight.

Must read for any feminist
I love live loved this book, I skipped the intro because I heard the person who wrote it tried to push their own agenda but besides that this was a great read! I recommend watching the movie about Valerie Solanis as well "I shot Andy Warhol"

One of the greatest feminist contributions
This isn't for new feminists. They should rather try reading this book when they have proper on hold feminist concepts or her words may seem too harsh. I'd say they are brutal and true to their core. But even if you read it before that, you won't find any lies. So go for it!
