Product Description 2015 album from the superstar violinist. Inspired by the film in which he stars, the album beautifully shows off both David's virtuoso skills as a player and his genius as a composer. The album also features powerhouse operatic performances from two great collaborators. Firstly there is the internationally renowned Andrea Bocelli, whose vocals on 'Ma Dove Sei' rank alongside some of his greatest work. The second is more unexpected, the pop star Nicole Scherzinger performs on 'Io Ti Penso', and gives a neo-classical delivery unlike anything her fans will have heard before. David's inspiration for GARRETT VS PAGININI comes from one of history's great performers, Paganini. The 19th Century composer was one of the first musicians who was renowned for their virtuosity and stage presence, and David could be said to be his 21st century equivalent, not only re-imagining works by the man himself, but applying Paganini's edge to the works of other composers and his own pieces. Garrett vs Paginini marks a return to the classical music that first inspired him, with beautiful arrangements of Paganini featuring alongside his own compositions of timeless melodies that comfortably sit alongside the works of the masters. Review The recording for the Paganini film was the most intense project I have ever undertaken. It has always been a special dream of mine to write and arrange music for a film --David Garrett

Masterful Arrangement and Performance
Although I was not too fond of David's acting in "The Devil's Violist", this CD is absolutely superb and I cannot stop playing it over and over again. I always have been a more enthusiastic fan of David's classical side so this CD (along with his other classical albums ("Legacy" and "Classic Romance") instantly became one of my favorites. I am amazed at David's ability to undertake the music that are composed by the greatest across three centuries (Paganini, Tartini, Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, etc.) and arrange them to be relevant in the 21st century without sacrificing the intent of those composers. My favorites are "Devil's Trill Sonata" and "La Campanella". David's interpretation of these timeless classical pieces is dramatic and emotionally charged...well, he plays them as they are meant to be heard, in my opinion. The only surprise, not a disappointment, for me is "Carnival of Venice" where David really took the liberty of re-arranging almost entire Paganini's original piece and made it more lively, festive, playful and folky. If you have not heard the original, I recommend listening to Joshua Bell's performance of the same title; Paganini wrote it to show off his violin techniques that are truly difficult and unique but very engaging and beautiful. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves the classical side of David Garrett!

Greatest Violinist of All Time
Its incredible. I saw him in a movie and the man is so talented. Thats why I ordered this. I'd never like violin music before but he's so incredibly good. Some music is played loud and hard but I still found it peaceful simply because he's that great.

Great CD, but cracked case-as usual
Great CD, but not 100% classical. I gave 3 stars only because it is IMPOSSIBLE apparently to receive a CD from Amazon without a cracked case.

Garrett vs Paganini is a great album by David Garrett with a couple of additional surprises performed by other artists which is a wonderful treat. As always, if you love David Garrett you will absolutely love this album; as it is some of his finest classical music. I especially love the Devil's Trill Sonata, even though it wasn't written by Paganini; but is a fitting piece for this album which includes music from David's movie; the Devil's Violinist.

Finally, a crossover violinist!
This guy is the best in the world. After seeing the movie where Garrett played Paganini I have really been interested in this crossover artist. His normal personality in interviews is so joyful and gentle, and his portrayal of Paganini is so petty and arrogant. His music in the album is just plain incredible.

The music is great! I LOVED Every piece of music performed on this CD! David Garrett is a excellent violinist! The music sounds as though David Garrett dose more than get his violin to sing the music; it is as though the music coming from his violin is a soprano singing opera! Go buy This CD now !!!!

Great soundtrack plus more!
This is another wonderful album from David Garrett! Cannot get enough of his music! This is classical and the same as the album Caprice, and the soundtrack one released in Germany in 2013 except for the song Erlkonig on that one. Guess this is the Canadian & U S version of it. All of his music is amazing period. Wish he came to Canada more! Have to be content with his Dvd's for now, his dvd's are also very good too!
