Coby TF-DVD500 Ultra-Portable DVD Player with 3.5-Inch LCD

Great picture -- looks like hi-def! You should immediately throw away the included headphones, though -- I found them totally useless -- terrible sound, very low volume -- I plugged-in a better set of phones (in this case Sony V600's and Sennhesier PX100's and Sony V6's), and the available volume suddenly was 2 or 3 times as powerful as it was with the included phones -- I even had to turn the volume down -- good sound quality, even listening to music DVD's. What a neat toy this is.

Or ANYWHERE that there is a lot of noise, the VOLUME just does not go high enough!! I loved this player until I tried to fly with it (and I was in first class!) and just finally gave up trying to watch a movie on it.I found the screen to be good and sharp and the colors were quite brilliant. I had no problem with the size of the screen.I use it when I am on the treadmill at the gym and with the volume turned up as high as possible, I am still able to hear the movies pretty much. The only problem is that occasionally when it is in my gym bag and in its own case, the "on" switch will be pushed by something in my bag and the battery will need to be recharged so they could work on making the switch a little more resistant.I plan on purchasing earphones that block out a lot of environmental noise and hopefully it will allow me to use this DVD player at airports.

A neat little unit that has proven ideal to travel with over the years. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a detailed picture, as the screen is so small. That aside, my only real gripe is with the rechargeable battery, which pooped out very early on, accordingly, I haven't used it all that often since, hence the 3 star rating.

We have owned two of these units for about 4 years now. We mainly use them on vacation or for long travel/airplane rides and the kids love them! The picture is superb and the portability is excellent, but I do need to point out a couple of helpful things to potential buyers. There are two issues that you will likely encounter in using the TF-DVD500 players. The first problem is a very low volume. We addressed this by purchasing a volume booster that plugs directly into the headphone jack and can accommodate up to three sets of headphones, now everyone can hear it just fine! The second issue is the battery life. We got to where we would use one player for both kids and swap out the extra battery from our other player when the battery would go dead (usually 80-90 minutes of battery life). However, today I was able to get through to Coby's Customer Care line at 1-800-727-3592 and found out how to purchase additional batteries for the players at $18/each. I was told by the representative that these batteries are much like cell phone or lap top batteries and will lose their ability to hold a maximum charge over time. The instructions I received for ordering additional batteries is to send a money order (credit/debit cards not accepted) for the total of two batteries ($36/includes shipping) to the following address:Coby Electronic Corporation150 Knowlton WaySavannah, GA 31407The representative also said to be sure to include your name, address, phone number, model #, and a note with your request for replacement battery/batteries and allow 4-8 weeks for processing. It took me quite a few unsuccessful online searches and "operators are all busy at this time please hang up and call back later" phone calls to get this valuable information. I hope that this will help others experiencing the same issues. Again, this is a great product as long as you have the volume boost and replacement battery pack to go along with it!

THIS PRODUCT DOES WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO. PICTURE IS SHARP AND EASY TO VIEW. EXCELLENT FOR TRAVELING, A WONDERFUL PRODUCT.

I purchased this based on reviews here saying that the screen resolution was good. I have been very disappointed. The picture quality is horrible, menu's are almost unreadable. I'd rather watch movies on my Samsung DVD-L25 with a 2.5" screen than this larger 3.5" screen. Battery life seems good, but with the battery on, it doesn't even fit in the case it comes with. I wouldn't recomend this product to anyone.

I purchased this item for my husband & once it came in the mail, i realized the item wasnt even the same item shown on the picture. Instead it was an older model of the Coby. Being that it wasn't what my husband wanted, he told me to keep it. It was cheap & it worked not bad for the price. I've used it for 6 months then it gave the 'wrong disc' error. It only could play music cds & dvds stopped working on it. I don't know what to expect considering it was refurbished? If i knew this was going to happen, i would've given the seller a bad review instead of a good 1 right away. It's a piece of crap, save yourself the $$$ & buy a decent brand.
