Works even better with a router.
I bought this as the modem I was using intermittently went out. It did not work well with Cox and continually gave us the spinning circle of death for as long as 15 minutes. Of course Cox said it was on our end though when I installed the system they had to come out and get it working out at the box. This modem has not dropped Cox streaming once no matter how hard I tried. And when I paired it up with a TPLink router, I tested it running 5 different TV's and internet devices all streaming at the same time five different services including youtube which was the worse for dropping video. The modem and router did not drop any of the connections in 8 hours. I do not like to bash providers for the service, but the COX basic service in our area is not known for its robust uptime or consistent bandwidth. I am not sure what greater or higher speed bandwidth would get us at this point.

Huge Upgrade!
So I got divorced and my ex-husband took the modem and left me with a crappy 10 year old Motorola modem. It seemed to work ok at first but it quickly became obvious that I needed to upgrade. This modem was easy to connect and it looks great. I love that it’s low-profile and minimalist. I’ve had it hooked up for a couple days now, and so far I’ve had no issues with my connectivity (I can actually watch Netflix again!).

Buy a Modem - Save Money - Unit Worked Fine for 18 Months - Good Buy
I bought this modem to replace the Xfinity rental modem which costs $14 per month. The unit was an easy install and plugs into any machine or router. I saw download speeds as high as 100mbps. Owning this modem saved me 1 $14.00 per month Xfinity modem rental fee. The unit worked for 18 months which averages out to around $2.50 per month. I saved about $180 in Xfinity charges over 18 months, so this was a very good buy.Xfinity diagnosed the modem as the bottlenecking service to 40mbps, noted it is Docsis 3.0, stated Doscis 3.0 is end of life and is being replaced with Docsis 3.1. Xfinity furnished a new modem and lowered my monthly bill by $5.00. Therefore I will use use the Xfinity modem until further notice. Even in failure this modem is saving me money.

It works right out of the box
I work from home in higher education. My workload exceeded the bandwidth available from the local DSL provider, so I had to switch to the local cable company. But their equipment rental charges were too high. This renewed modem was compatible with their network and much cheaper.

Worthless garbage, don't buy it!
I bought this modem and struggled for literally years of horrible internet connections that would drop 50-100 times per day. A restart fixed briefly but the connection would drop again moments later sometimes. A previous modem wasn't much better so I just assumed it was a poor connection or that Comcast just sucked. I upgraded my router and firmware hoping that would fix it to no avail, I tried replacing cabling and splitters but the issues remained.I finally decided to do some reading as to what the issue might be and heard that a garbage modem is a potential cause.... well I finally decided to try another modem just to see (went with theMotorola MB8611, highly recommended) and wow it is in fact the case! In other words... this piece of garbage modem was the cause for extremely poor internet connection!!Seriously don't waste your time or money on a garbage modem like this, I can't believe I wasted so much time and effort on a cheap modem, never again! I learned my lesson, a premium modem is worth every penny. Cheap ones like this should be avoided!! Also this unit gets burning hot under normal use, there is no ventilation either, so I'm sure it was probably overheating or probably lacking ram or CPU capacity.

Worked perfectly
I read the reviews on this. Most of the bad reviews were from people who were complaining about the lack of WiFi. This is a modem, not a router - meaning that there is NO WIFI with it. And it works absolutely as intended... as a modem. It was a great value and increased my internet speed several times over. I'm very happy with this purchase.

No more renting, and saving $50 montly!!
I am happy with this purchase, but wanted to point out that you will need a router as mentioned in other reviews. I have added a picture of the one I bought, and so far these seem to work very well.I use Xfinity as my internet provider, and their Customer support was very helpful when I had to activate both of these devices.

NO WIFI!
This item does NOT provide WiFi without you purchasing a separate router—careful! It all came as described but unfortunately I didn’t realize that it doesn’t allow for WiFi on its own, so it’ll be going back
