Good quality
The acme tap was used to make a nut for a lead screw on a X, Y drill press table. The tap was sharp, accurate and of good quality. There are other import tooling offerings at twice the price but not twice as good.

Acceptable Quality for the Price
This tap was used for making a handful of custom cross slide nuts.Material was 1018 CR, depth of thread was 1.5"A few teeth chipped by the second hole but it still cut an acceptable thread. My guess is the teeth chipped because of the learning curve in tapping ACME threads. I found it easiest to back the tap all the way out and clear the chips often (~every 2 full rotations) and keep it well lubed. There is some backlash in the thread, but for the intended application this is a non-issue.If I had more than 10 parts to make I would bite the bullet and buy a better one.

Good for repairing machine tools
This tap is ideal for repairing/fabricating machine tools and accessories such as small lathes, benchtop milling machines, vises, cross slide tables, etc. Ten t.p.i. thread pitch makes it ideally suited for use with SAE graduated collars and dials.

Tap works fine for the one time I used it
So far so good. Cut nice threads, but I have only used it once on brass nut.

cuts loose
this tap cuts an over sized thread, I tried it on two different blanks that were cut on a lathe. both nuts I made were very sloppy on the manufactured bar. I bought nuts for the bar when I purchased it and the fit well. I bought cheap and got low quality. I don't know if this one is a reject or not.Rich
