Covey, author, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Review: We need to read more books like this in high school. - I really wish I had read this book in high school and better yet had a course in it. It would have saved me a lot of grief. As a society, we need to teach children how to deal with emotions. I wish I had not taken it out of the library because the code in the back only works for one person. So, I was not able to take the EQ (Emotional Intelligence)test. I may need to buy the book. I loved it all, but I have picked out my favorite parts of each section: Self Awareness Strategies: 1. Ask others for feedback about how you handle your emotions and listen carefully to what they say. 2. Weekly or bi-weekly take stock of your life and write down situations that you didn't deal with well and then list which quality that you wanted to honor but didn't. For example: Honesty is the quality and then write down a situation that I didn't handle well where I wasn't completely honest. The next time a situation like this comes up, I might deal with it differently because I will remember the list. Self Management Strategies: 1. To prepare for change, make a list of things in my life that could possibly change and write down ideas for how I could deal with that. I really enjoyed doing this and it really has been helpful. Social Awareness Strategies: 1. Become a great observer. Learn how to sense the mood of a room and check to see if your observations are correct. 1. Listen. Listen. Listen. Don't interrupt. Relationship Management Strategies: 1. Use these phrases more: "I am sorry." "Please" "Thank You" Fabulous book. I highly recommend it. Review: LOVE ♥ THIS 📙 BOOK - I absolutely love this audiobook! "Emotional Intelligence 2.0" is engaging and highly informative, making it a must-read for anyone looking to understand and improve their emotional intelligence. A hard pill to swallow
I got, and finished, this book in two days. I initially ordered it as a book to be read for work but found it to be an absolutely easy read that has changed the way I think about my everyday actions. First, I completed the EQ test/survey that's included with the book, which gave me my EQ scores in the 4 areas this book covers: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. This is the hard pill... if you're honest, I think you'll be surprised at how low some of these might be. While I found the test a bit short to give me a wholistic score like it did, it did at least give me the motivation to read about how I can improve. The book then breaks down each section, and talks about how to identify short-comings, how to think about each these categories, and gives a ton of thoughtful advice. While I initially picked this up as a requirement for my sales job, I'll be recommending it to anyone I know starting a career and trying to move up the ladder - the book goes into great detail on how important EQ is in all aspects of life, but definitely has a focus on career success. Highly recommend, I only wish it was longer!

progress for improving relationship skills
I’ve just read emotional Intelligence 2.0 and have learned so much already. I am looking forward to practicing these skills and retesting myself in several months from now to see how I’ve improved and how it’s helping my relationships.

A must-read for leaders who want to build emotionally intelligent teams (not just individuals)
Value: This book has paid for itself many times over in better communication, calmer decision-making, and stronger team culture. Emotional Intelligence isn’t a fluffy read: it’s a practical guide to how emotions affect productivity, relationships, and leadership. Practical Application: As a business owner, I started using the five EI domains (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skill) as a framework for coaching my team. When conflicts arise, I now ask: Which domain is missing here? That simple shift has improved accountability and reduced burnout across the board. What Most Reviews Miss: • Use this book like a leadership diagnostic, identify patterns in behavior and trace them to an EI gap instead of a performance issue. • Measure emotional “defects.” Track recurring frustrations, communication breakdowns, or reactivity under stress. Treat them like process metrics, not personal flaws. • Apply EI in hiring and onboarding. Ask candidates situational questions that reveal emotional awareness and control, it’s a better predictor of success than technical skill alone. • Revisit the book quarterly. Emotional capacity shifts with workload and stress; what resonates once will land differently six months later. Who It’s For: Owners, managers, and anyone leading humans under pressure from manufacturing floors to start-ups. If you already live by metrics and KPIs, this book helps you do the same for emotional culture. Final Thoughts: Emotional intelligence is a business advantage. The sooner leaders treat it as a system to be developed, not a personality trait to be admired, the faster their organizations evolve.

Awesome book but Kindle version came without code to do the online test
Book on Kindle came without the code to do a EI test, really disappointing.

This book saved my life.
Like, saved my life. Has anyone ever felt like they were highly intelligent and capable, yet there was something inarticulable holding you back? I felt like that for a long time. With the help of some friends and acquaintances telling me I was low in EMOTIONAL intelligence, I began looking into self help for growing my mysterious EQ. I have had this book for a little less than a week, but the very simple, very well-explained practices it gave me, along with the online tests and practices (oh yeah, they have thought of everything) have exponentially made it worth the paltry purchase price. People are telling me I “seem lighter” and that I am understanding them better. I am now able to reflect both within myself and on my personal relationships in a way that helps me grow. Each step is becoming more exciting. I feel like I am becoming a new person, but these abilities have always been inside of me. This book, and the online practices, help me realize what, exactly, I should be focusing on. Heads up - it does require effort to get better. You have to first be willing and able to accurately self-assess your aptitude, so if you have a trusted friend help you take the initial test, it might help accuracy. You also have to be willing to be receptive and forgiving to yourself in order to enact behavioral changes. If you can do these things, I would recommend this book 100% Good luck.

Your EQ may be different than you think!
I bought this and then purchased the audio version. So I ended up using this book as a giveaway during a presentation I gave on this specific topic. I found that the information was extremely useful and contents were very relevant. I became interested in this topic a few years ago and have been reading up on it to better understand how we can improve our own EQ. I thought the contents in this book layout very specific information and it’s easier to understand once you take the assessment and then go back and read the sections that you would need to improve in. There’s also a ton of resources in their website, which were very helpful as well.

Que a Inteligência Emocional é tão ou mais importante que o QI
Tendo tido a oportunidade de escutar num voo da Ethiopian Airways sobre Emotional Inteligence 2.0, pedi o livro. Realmente muito interessante.
