Kate Style: Chic and Classic Look

KATE STYLE: CHIC AND CLASSIC LOOK, by Alisande Healy Orme, is a delightful book. LOADED with bautiful colour pictures, mostly of Kate Middleton herself, (although there is just-as-spectacular retrospective of other Royal brides and Royal bridal gowns in the back of the book), this book not only describes Kate Middleton's style of dressing, but it also has special pages on how the reader can, herself, acquire these looks. Also included in the text is a running commentary on Kate's life and courtship. There are, however, two things which make me uncomfortable about this book. Firstly, the publication date. It is given as "2011", (shown on the LAST page of the book) -- but, from the date of my review, (and of the review written by another customer-reviewer -- who wrote hers BEFORE I did), it's obvious that this book was published "pre-wedding". Many things change in a woman's life when she marries -- and even bigger changes take place when she becomes a Princess upon her marriage. Wardrobes worn pre-and post-marriage of Grace Kelly -- Monaco, Mary Elizabeth Donaldson -- Denmark, Letizia Ortiz -- Spain, Lady Diana Spencer -- England -- other well-groomed, well-spoken, well-educated commoners, who, upon their marriages, became Royal Princesses, tell the tale. Royalty dresses DIFFERENTLY than even the richest of nobles. Brighter colours, (they HAVE to stand out in crowd.) More intricate designs. And perhaps slightly more demure dressing, as well.I have seem. recently on the web, artiles which ask: "Is Kate Changing Her Style?"She obviously is changing her name -- her FIRST name, as well as her last name. She is now said to favour the more formal "Catherine", to her heretofore usually used nickname, "Kate". (On 29tth April, 2011, of course, the name change will be official -- and Kate Middleton will no longer exist. After the vows are spoken, her place will be the radiant new "Princess Catherine".So, Catherine's choice of clothes will, I strongly suspect, gradually change. She will have more money to spend on clothes, and more reasons to dress more -- shall we say, "conservatively"? Or so I hazard to guess. So this book, excellent though it is, (and it IS printed on beautiful paper, withnice large print, and, as I have said, many, many pictures) -- may soon become outdated. Or a collector's item. Or perhaps both....The other thing that bothers me? Well, Chapter 7 is entitled, "Dress to Impress", and, naturally, has a selection of "could-be" wedding dresses by famous designers, and a great text which includes quotes from these designers as to why they made the dresses they did. What TRULY terrifies me, however, is the design by Christian La Croix on page 102. No -- not the dress. It is spectacular and, as it is obviously inspired by the dresses which Queen Elizabeth I wore, can surely be considered intensely and delightfully UK-patriotic. No -- what really terrifies me about this picture is the "face of Kate" which has been added to make the dress seem more real. Yes -- it surely DOES look like Kate Middleton. But somehow, in someway, the face also looks, (to me, at least), a bit like ...................Hilary Clinton? To ME it looks a bit like Ms. Clinton. I have never been too much of a fan of Ms. Clinton, and the thought comes to me that, as Princess Diana was distantly related to Humphrey Bogart, et. al, COULD it be that.....????? No -- just my imagination, (I hope). Just a co-incidence. Maybe.Anyway, it's JUST in this ONE picture, so I GUESS there's no relationship? Anyway, look at the book and decide for yourself.KATE STYLE -- an all-inclusive look at what Ms. Middleton wears, today. And how to get that look yourself. And descriptions of many aspects of Ms. Middleton's life up til now. On great paper, with large print -- it is definitely a keeper for Kate -- or make that for Catherine -- fans!___________________________________________________________________P.S.: I've been looking at some pictures, and have reached the conclsion that both KATIE HOLMES and SANDRA BULLOCK would makecredible Princess Catherine look-alikes!

not quite what was expected
This book does have some great photos and gives insight into how and where Kate shops. It also give some interesting background to English fashion to those of us in the US. However, this same background was a little hard for me to follow since I'm unfamiliar with shopping districts in London, English designers, etc. That aside, I was actually hoping for a book that showed more how to put outfits together like Kate, instead of descriptions of where she shopped. I really wanted some guidance as to how to put together clothing and accessories that would make classy, youthful outfits for me. It's not necessarily that the book was bad (it wasn't) it just wasn't what I thought I'd get. Oh well!

Kate’s style before she marries William
I’m a Royal Nut and love these style books for Diana, Kate, Meghan, etc. This one is fun, but be aware it’s Kate’s style before her marriage. To that end, it includes a lot of pictures I hadn’t seen before of her finding her style preferences, as well as a few pages of speculation on what her wedding gown would look like, which was fun in retrospect. If you’re most interested in her gala and evening gowns, this isn’t the book for you (there are only two), but if you’re interested in seeing the beginnings of Kate’s style, this is a fun book for the price.

I highly recommend this book-everything you want to know about Kate's: style, shopping & where, and how do achieve her look
If you follow Kate and love her life style and look this book will help you achieve it. It has places she shops and thier contact details. Make up and hair tips. Her work out. Plus her history before becoming roya. This is before she married Will. You'll be shock how close Prince Di's wedding dress maker comes close to the actual dress Kate wore for her wedding. I must for a Kate fan!

Really good book on Kate's style
This book goes into detail about every aspect of Kate's appearance, down to her penchant for fancy headwear, accompanied by `get the look' sections, so that every lady can get a step closer to looking elegant and classy. There is good background information about Kate's upbringing, her education and her lifestyle and, of course, all have had an influence on her fashion sense. The book includes quotes about Kate from her contemporaries, teachers and other people who have known her, so that the reader can build up a clear picture of what sort of person the Princess-in-waiting is. Every point made in the book is illustrated with a lovely photograph of Kate. The author devotes a section of speculation about Kate's wedding day dress choice; with a look back at the traditions of past royal brides and fashion experts' predictions as to what we can expect of the wedding dress (and event). This book is essential for anyone who wants to know more about the woman who will one day be our queen consort. I highly recommend it.
