To decrypt, hold the card up to the reader to ID the sweet spot
So I've been having issues with my hotel key randomly stop working at the hotel I've been holed up at since covid began and has been one of the many thorns on my side as I've ran thru the whole playbook (e.g., wrapping it in foil and taking it out when needed, kept far away from any transmitting devices and credit cards which I believe only speeds up the inevitable.Since $40-50 is a small price to pay for sanity, I decided to give this a shot. My first attempts were failures, as the hotel card would read give the prompt that says the card is encrypted but can be depcrypted using the prorietary software (which your computer will tell you is a trojan virus). So I'd do as the instructions claim but 20-30mim later the progress bar didn't budge. Chalking this up as the hotel key being too high tech to decode, I gave up. Fast forward a free months later when my key stopped working every other day where all the copies they'd give would all stop working at some point. Disgruntled, I powered on the reader, went through all the motions, but in less than 15 sec. The progress bar went from 0 to 100 with a congratulatory statement saying you can now put a blank ic card for writing. The trick I've found, is that should you be given the prompt to run the decrypting software via USB, you have to move the card to find the "sweet spot " and press your original card against it which may be different from the spot it first read your card. For me it was on the back where the weird elastic band is. then voila. No more lost key fees and even though the room key had stopped working a day after this discovery, my backups have been stellar. If you live in an apartment complex (the modern ones that require a fob to get in) and don't like paying the $200+ lockout fee or need a spare just to have, this will work perfectly (no decryption software required). Just be discreet and don't do anything stupid. Bonus tip: if you get annoyed at the voice constantly blaring your rfid numbers or, read failure, all you have to do is unscrew the top, carefully open up the back (since its connected with thin copper wire), find. The two red wires connecting to the speaker and cut it from where it's soldered on,and voila all the bells and whistles without the sound. I just hope that this one doesn't randomly stop working like a similar model I had but time will tell. This thing has exceeded it's value already so I'm happy

OMG THIS IS THE ONE!!!!
So I am one of those who purchased this item after buying the custom lightsabers from WDW and I wanted the ability to modify the color programming in my kyber krystal. Initially I purchased the RFID reader/writer that looked identical to this one, only to find out later that the OBO HANDS version did NOT work on WDW kyber krystals...it wrote to the chip the first time which changed the lightsaber blade color...but that was it! I couldn't change it back to the original color or any other color! This is when I discovered that I had to purchase the ZONSIN version, which was the software version that DID work well with kyber krystals! I crossed my fingers after reading some reviews, and am happy to say THIS IS THE ZONSIN RFID reader that I've been looking for! Was able to not only change the color of my blade back to the original purple (I chose the purple kyber krystal originally), but I was also able to change the color to all of the others as well!

versatile key fob / key card reader! great purchase
My community wanted to charge $100 a pop for new key fobs. After much consideration and comparison with other brands, I purchased this reader and I am so glad that I did! It costs a little more than some of the competitors, but I wanted something that could read/write different fob types with minimal issues. If you’re not sure what frequency you need, this is a good reader for sniffing that out. I put it to the test with a variety of different key cards and fobs and it successfully decoded them all. Using the supplies provided in the purchase, you’ll have the capability to copy fobs that are 13.56 mHz (IC Type A) and 125 kHz. If you need to read/write other frequencies, you’ll have to purchase your own blank cards separately. Making copies is easy once you know how it works. The voice prompts are noisy but this is manageable and not big deal once you’re used to it. I now have new fobs and saved myself a few hundred dollars. This reader has more than paid for itself in usefulness. Highly recommend!

Meh
Did not work with my tags. Very clunky and noisy. Got a Proxmark3 much cheaper. It actually works.

If you’re looking for an RFID copier look no further.
This thing works like a charm. Especially if you have no idea what frequency your RFID chip works on. It gives you card options for several frequencies. I tried two other RFID writers before I found this one, which actually works.

does NOT work
If you like hearing a computer voice say READ FAILURE a million times, by all means buy this... cant read any of my FOBs at all... fails on all frequencies. Tried PC mode as well, followed their instructions and the unit disconnects.. genius! Other reviews said the same thing - buy at your own risk, expect to return it! Thank Amazon for their no-hassle return policy!

It Just works !
Encryption software is easily erased, so be careful. I used it twice before I lost it, worked perfect both of those times.
