A great resource for caring for my rescue puppy
This book has been a simply fabulous resource for caring for my puppy, from treatment for a mundane scrape to an intervention for doggy agoraphobia. My puppy is 7 months old and my husband and I adopted him at 4 months, just after he was rescued from a backyard breeder. Before he was rescued, our puppy had never been outside the yard or even up any stairs. He adjusted well to living with us and was yard-bound until his vaccines took effect. When it was finally safe to go out and about in our neighborhood, my husband and I were beside ourselves with excitement for our puppy, but our puppy was just plain scared. His tail was between his legs and he seemed very ill at ease until we got him back in our yard. We worked with him for many weeks on getting comfortable going for walks, but the problem seemed to get worse and worse. Some days he just wouldn't leave our yard at all; other days he was 'scared of his own shadow' at every turn while going for a walk. I bought "A Healer in Every Home" and read it in one sitting. I read that Aconite can help with fright and had some at home from my own homeopathic treatment. I gave my puppy a dose. It was amazing! A half hour later, I opened our gate and he waltzed right out onto the sidewalk. It's been 3 weeks and he hasn't once sat at the gate unwilling to go out.I turn to this book first any time I have a concern about my puppy. Using green tea and calendula on scrapes makes them heal in no time. I clean his ears with green tea too. If he's nervous about something, I keep Rescue Remedy on hand to calm him down. My regular vet provides great mainstream veterinary care, but I'm heartened at the advice from the book to give my puppy some real food as well as supplements, like Alaskan fish oil and probiotics. It is definitely convenient to scoop some kibble from a bag each day, but preparing some real food to complement his dog food and adding some supplements makes a huge difference. My puppy used to leave breakfast untouched or leave part of his kibble in the bowl at the end of the day. Now he licks it clean at every meal. His favorite treat is kale chips. We both snack on them!Thank you so much for writing this book!

Great for those new to holistic practices for their pets!
I love this book! And use it as a great resource in helping me be a better pet owner. Easy to follow with advice that is explained in terms easy to understand. I helped my aging collie with arthritis, my young Aussie with itching and both of them with anxiety. I love this book so much I just donated it to the local animal shelter!

Not quite what I was looking for
Good information, but not quite what I was looking for. I think I wanted specific recipes for my dog that was having health issues. I was looking more for a referencestyle.
