My 4 and 6 yo girls loved it!
Kept my kids engaged. Was an awesome read aloud that we gobbled up. We all could see bits of ourselves in the various family members. Much like The Moffits, The Mitchell family is a large-ish family with lovely kids and fun adventures that just don’t exist in our culture anymore. The kids are often unselfish and considerate of other family members but there’s no preaching this and it is subtle. We are in the middle of the sequel (Canadian Summer) and it is even better!

So funny
I have 4 kids, expecting #5, and my kids have loved this book! It’s really funny and we’ll written, and we have a big family as well we relate to a lot of what this family is going through. It’s such a good story- recommend 100%!

A wonderful story of children during war time.
The Mitchells: Five for Victory was delightful! This is a beautiful story about a family during WWII. The Daddy is away at war and it follows the children's adventures while he is gone. As the Daddy of our family is deployed right now, this book was timely and encouraging! We can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Sweet and funny family story
I bought this because I’ve seen it mentioned on various book groups discussing works set on the home front during World War II. The plot is described elsewhere so I’ll just add that this is a great book about a loving family and how they get along when the father/husband is in the service. One hint: buy the others in the series right away. You’ll want to get right back to reading about the Mitchell family after you’ve finished this one.
