Fascinating Subject, Excellent Scholarship
So many biographies of our 40th President have left the impression that Ronald Reagan was difficult to understand. His official biographer, for one - historian Edmund Morris - was apparently so baffled by Reagan that he had to resort to fictionalizing Reagan's life story when he wrote his book "Dutch." But now, thanks to Dr. Kengor's superb and scholarly work, we have a book that begins to uncover the real Ronald Reagan. For the first time, Reagan's many years of public policy pronouncements are comprehensively examined in light of his unwavering faith. For the first time, we begin to understand Reagan's motivations and his make-up as we come to realize that his spiritual life and his public life were inexorably intertwined - and that his religious faith had a tremendous, positive impact on public policy. Whether President Reagan's bold, courageous, and timely public declarations about the malevolent intentions of the former Soviet Union, for example, actually accelerated that country's demise may well have to be left to a thorough examination by future historians. But there is no doubt that President Reagan sincerely believed that his faith compelled him to speak the truth about the evils of communism - something that is commonly accepted today but that no politician before him dared to utter. And there is also no doubt that his "evil empire" speech, all by itself, lifted the hopes and dreams of so many Christians and Jews imprisoned worldwide by communist governments that, to this day, remain intolerant and afraid of all things religious. Reagan's spiritual beliefs made a real difference. Overall, this is a well written, thoroughly documented, and fascinating study. I am grateful to Dr. Kengor for shedding light on this topic and I look forward to his future works.

GOD BLESS PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH
When Mr. Bush came to Washington seven years ago, he came with great optimism to do great things. Then, destiny took a hand and turned the world upside down. And, in the middle of it all was this man who had been placed there for such a time as that. Difficult times required difficult decisions and he made them. Some hated him for it, most supported him but in time, many grew weary of him. He was the prominent symbol of one of the most trying times in America's history. While the page will enevitably be turned, I pray the America I love does not regress to the politics of unsubstantative, mindless, flowery rhetoric of most of the 1990's. I like to think that this nation - most of it - has finally grown up and left behind all hippie narcissm. I am one of the 30%(if the polls are correct) who still support the President. It's easy to criticize in hind sight. But, he has done what he's believed to be right as best as he has been able to given the support and resources around him. I recommend this book. Buy it, read it and say a prayer for this great man.

There was a lot of very interesting information on how Ronald Reagan became the man he became as President. It also answered the questions on why he did and said the things he did while President. The author's style of presenting the information sometimes became tiring to read. However, the revelations on President Reagan's strengths and the use of those strengths to overcome the USSR added to a basic belief that he was the man needed at that perilous time. He was in many minds "Gods choice to smite the Soviet Union."

This is such an insightful book into the real person - Ronald Reagan. He was a very strong and moral person- a hero really, someone we can look up to especially in this age of 2020.

Very interesting in revealing how Ronald Reagan used his faith to guide him throughout his life in making decisions in his personal life as well as the Governor of California and the President of the United States. His faith was the cornerstone of his self confidence and helped him to establish his strong position in demanding certain other countries such as the U.S.S. R. (Russia) to come to recognize the right of all people to practice their individual faiths.

A trie patriot
It is heart warming to see a portrait off a man so moved by his commitment to God and to live a life devoted to fulfilling his own personal role in God’s mosaic for each of us

God and Ronald Regan I loved, loved
God and Ronald ReganI loved, loved, loved this book. Paul Kengor did an excellent job protraying how much President Regan's Christianity meant to him. It was wonderful to hear about President Regan's faith, and only confirmed to me how underated his life and Presidential terms were. If only we had political leaders now with the same faith, character and leader ship ablilities. How much better off this country would be.The book was well written and very informative. Thanks Paul Kengor for a wonderful biography of President Regan.

Wonderful Book.
Truly a wonderful book about a great man. As it goes through his life, it weaves in how his faith carried him through the difficult times. Its not an "in your face" book about religion, so people who might still be trying to find theirs would enjoy it very much.Very enjoyable and great history as well.

God bless you Ronnie...
I enjoyed this book immensely; it takes you back to a recent but slightly stagnant part of world history, that of the final years of US v Soviet cold war's endless, futile rhetoric and posturing, where nothing much seemed to happen.Reagan armed with his unshakable faith calls a spade a spade upsetting many on both sides of the conflict but sticking to his guns and chipping away at the unsustainable fabric of the communist system. He was the butt of many a cruel joke, but he stuck at it and helped in huge measure to thaw relations and bring the curtain down.God bless you Ronnie...
