Hand to Hand: The Longest-Practicing Reiki Master Tells His Story

Really Good.
I genuinely enjoyed this book. The history portion is just the right amount of information. The simplified hand placement patterns are among the best parts. There are other parts of the book that I believe provide valuable insights into the impact childhood fears and traumas can have on the chakra system into adulthood. I’d recommend this book as perhaps a first reiki book as it isn’t overly complex and doesn’t require memorization of too many hand positions. A really good read.

Excellent...
I learned Reiki (Levels 1 & 2) from John Harvey Gray many years ago. Reading his story was like being in "class" with him and his wife, Lourdes. I learned more about his history and of his becoming the third Reiki Master in the US when Mrs. Takata was teaching only a few students. There's only so much you can learn during the structured classes. This book defines Reiki well and gives the reader a picture of how Reiki came to the US. A good portion of it is dedicated to the practice of Reiki, for those who've been attuned. It's like having a mini refresher. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about Reiki.

Very thorough yet easy to read
As a Reiki Master I often get asked about Reiki. What is it? How does it work? Where does it come from? This wonderful gem of a book answers all these questions and more. It's my "go to" book when clients ask for a book recommendation. It's very thorough yet easy to read. It is without a doubt the best Reiki book I've seen.

Hands that heal
John Gray was one of the first students of Sensei Hawayo Takata, who was at that time the only Reiki master practicing outside of Japan. The author's autobiographical memories, and biographical stories of those who learned and practiced Reiki in its earliest days in the United States, are very poignant. There are a only handful of writings from those who knew Mrs Takata firsthand, biographies by Helen Haberly and Fran Brown, a book by Anneli Twan, and a very rare book by Virginia Samdahl. Alongside these works, this book is an important contribution. It shares recollections and memories of the early times of Reiki in America. The author's intentions are focused on compassionate healing, and on honoring the tradition and method of his teacher. Those drawn to Reiki will find this book fascinating and valuable.

A must read for Reiki practitioners!
Even though I am a Reiki Master and have practiced Reiki for 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised at all I learned. This is a must read for all serious Reiki practitioners. Very well written.

Good basic Reiki info
This is my favorite book describing basic Reiki positions. I use it whenever I want to review. I already had a hard copy of the book and bought a Kindle version for my smart phone and iPad.
