First off, if it feels like you might be tearing off skin or a scab, stop. I found that the best case scenario if you have blisters is to do everything you can to allow them to drain gently without removing or tearing the skin or letting them get dry at all. If you do it right that layer of skin will flatten back onto the sore and become your "scab". At the end of the healing you'll be left with a little circle of dead skin, do not pull it off, wait for it to fall off. If you keep it covered the whole time it will not have a chance to dry out, get crusty, or crack.Extra tips:If there is residual fluid when you remove your patch soak it up by gently placing a Q-tip to the fluid, if there is any crust use warm water to gently remove it.Any sort of gel or ointment is almost certainly going to cause problems with adhesion. If it's a medically viable option for you I highly recommend just going and getting a prescription for antiviral pills, they can turn a waking nightmare into an occasional inconvenience. ( especially if you are in the situation I was in where my stress-induced breakouts were causing more stress-induced breakouts)If you're going to eat anything greasy or wet and messy just plan on changing out your patch after since it's very likely it'll start pealing up at the edgeIf you're having an especially bad breakout a normal, big hydrocolloid bandage is going to give you the best heavy duty fluid removal, shrinking power, and containment. Yes it's going to be unsightly, but I found it can aggressively hault swelling and tissue damage. If you do this be so very very extra careful with removal, be gentle and patient, attempt to only change it out if the hydrocolloid in the bandage is exhausted (turns white, puffed up, squishy to the touch.)If there are any breaks in the skin I normally gently sanitize the area with some IPA on a Q-tip to mitigate the chance of trapping bacteria instde.

This covered my cold sore which was so ugly. I had an event to go to and it covered great. It’s sticks very well. Just have to be careful when taking it off. Other than that, it’s great.

I dread getting cold sores. I’d rather go to the dentist and have a root canal. The pain, blisters, discomfort, and embarrassment of them kept me in isolation during an outbreak. My cold sore was only 5 days due to keeping it sealed and dry and healed so fast. Will buy these and have them on stock at all times.

Im dealing with cold sores for the past 15 years and usually get it once a year. I ordered this specific cold sore patches about a month ago, because I was running out of my previous ones (always used compeed) and wanted to try something new. Honestly the price was very appealing. So the first time I used this patch was 3 days after I ran out of my previous one, meaning after the peak days. I didn’t notice any difference then. Now, not even a month later I got the cold sore again. This time using it from day one. After 3 days my cold sore doubled in size! Every time I reapply a new one (usually after 8-12 hours) the old one rips off my skin around and makes the cold sore grow even bigger on open wounds around it. The material is very thick and reminds me more of a pimple patch. On the photo you see the patch state on my lip applied after 2 hours of usage only. Its super thick and becomes even thicker each hour. Very uncomfortable and now I realise that it does the opposite of healing.I Do not recommend this product! Unless you use it at night for healing purposes after peak days (from day 3 or 4). I have just ordered my previous cold sore patches and hope to get it healed very soon. Very disappointed with this product.

Cold sores is my curse so I decided to try this advanced second skin technology. I applied the patch on the first sign of cold sore. The instruction says the patch will detach itself.1st patch stayed there for 1 day. I applied the 2nd one and it stayed for 3 days. It hides and seals the sore really good and makes it look better if you need to be in public, however, it was hurting all the time.It detached in the evening of day 4, I let the wound breathe for the night. This pic is taken in the morning day 5. As you can see there is a big crust and it's still hurting.Not a magic solution for me...
