Sign Language for Everyone

This is a very good book that is small enough not to overwhelm a beginner. Also, it is ASL-based with a great explaination of how deaf think (samples of letters written by Deaf individuals are included). Many signs are out-dated, but most of the important ones are the same. You will need another book (or a deaf friend) to explain the signs for the countries listed, as the ones in the book are not used anymore.There are short lessons followed by practice work such as sentences, songs, and a Bible verse. You might need the help of a deaf friend to check your abilities on this.This book is a religious book written by a woman who desired to share the Gospel with her deaf child. If you aren't looking for religious sign, don't buy it. It does include many basic conversational words.I sign and used this book to teach my hearing children. Very good book!!

I was looking for a sign language course for my homeschooled daughter that had a video component. I chose this one because it had Christian words in it and was a thin book. It turned out to be the right choice for us, because someone learning just the signs here can communicate with the deaf in a basic way. We did, however, have to practice and work harder than we had thought we would! We also made flashcards so that we could practice the signs out of order. You will need to purchase both the book and video; the video is a must, because it is very difficult to see what they are doing in a printed picture. The book is necessary to jog your memory as you review.

Yes i like this sign language book i am teaching a class.

This is my favorite, of about 10 books on ASL. The pictures and descriptions are clear and the book is light enough to take on trips.A little more vocabulary would have been nice.I am studying ASL on my own after a short time in a group where I lived before a move. Still looking for another group..

I just got the book and am studying it with earnestness. It's a great book and easy to follow. I bought a used copy and it came with some great notes from the previous owner. The book is written by a Christian camp counselor and contains many Christian references which will be very helpful. It's a really good book to start your studies with sign language.

Bought several that book I use that book to teach my class it was great l easy to do they are basic look like soon I will have to order more cuz soon I be getting new people to joined my class they enjoy and learn so well that is a good book for beginner you will love and it's cheap to buy !

I am really learning a lot about sign language. I love that it includes religious signs especially the Christian ones. Some of the drawings are hard to tell which way to move the hand but other than that it is great.

It’s very limited. It’s an OK book for beginners, but didn’t meet my needs.

This product was inappropriate for the person for whom it was intended because of its religious, christian, emphasis. For example from Lesson One Practice Signing "Boys and girls love Jesus", "Christ saves men, women, boys and girls".

I am just starting to learn to sign. This book is like a signing dictionary, and so helpful. I would recommend it if, like me, you are just starting out.

Arriving soon after ordering, I find this book most informative about the deaf & signing communities, although American based there are many similarities between the English & American Sign Languages & I think the problems/obstacles both deaf & hard of hearing people as well as the hearing are well explained in this book :)
