I'm already thinking about ordering more!
There are so many reasons I bought this. In an effort to Feng Shui my apartment, I needed to move my bed to the other side of the room, which means my lamps are now on the other side of the room and can't be controlled with the light switch anymore. It's a hassle to have to turn on a lamp every time I enter so I needed something on the other side of the room, it's also kinda dark in there so I was actually looking for a floor lamp when I happened upon this. This works out much better, as I don't really have a good place to put a lamp on the floor anyway. Another reason is the price. I found a cheap floor lamp for a few bucks more but it was so plain I found myself looking for something more interesting. As it turns out, the more interesting a floor lamp is, the more it costs! Instead, I bought this large puzzle set for $17 and a 15 foot lamp cord/socket for $10 (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OZRF798?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00) and just used a regular 13W CFL (60W incandescent equivalent) bulb that I already had for a grand total of $27! I also needed to be mindful of the material, color, and the shape that will be used in that Feng Shui Bagua. One thing to note; the directions with this lamp shade state to use a bulb of 40W or less, so I wouldn't try to use anything over that, such as a 60W incandescent bulb. I think it would get too hot and possibly burn or melt the plastic so if you don't have any CFL or LED bulbs, you'll need to get one. What I love about this thing is that I can take it apart and wash it and put it back together in whatever shape I want. If I ever decide to go with a smaller shade, I could even get another socket cord and make two! I'm already thinking about getting another set in the medium size for another room and springing for the Bluetooth multi-color LED bulb (http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00P6WAEHQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1N1VV7U37EINN&coliid=I2WA45M4WOW4AC&psc=1).In regards to the difficulty level, it does take some practice to get the hang of it but I VERY carefully followed this YouTube video step-by-step and had it together in about 15 minutes, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqwIPFJMcXE&index=332&list=WL). If you do a search for puzzle lamps on YouTube there are TONS of videos of how to do the various shapes. I wouldn't say a caveman can do it but I'm appalled that some people just gave up and threw it away! It's SO beautiful, I think it's well worth the time and effort to learn how to put it together, or at least enlist a friend to do it for you! These pics are not great but they might help. Nevermind my cords everywhere, I was planning to put it in the other corner (near the outlet connected to the wall switch) but changed my mind. I took one with all the other lights off, at night, drapes drawn, so you can see how bright it is with a plain 13W CFL bulb and how big it is when configured to 30B instructions (30 pieces, design B). The other pic is with the lamp off and other lights on so you can see the detail better.

Nice-looking lamp shade, with caveats - labor intensive assembly with useless instruction sheet provided.
I successfully assembled the large, 30-piece round pendant lamp shade. The instruction sheet provided is virtually useless. I could not make heads or tails of it, so I looked up a step-by-step instructional video on YouTube. There are several excellent tutorials available to help guide you through this less than intuitive process. The end result, if done correctly, looks pretty nice, though I can't vouch for how sturdy and durable the shade will be in the long run since it is constructed of thirty individual plastic sheets that have been hooked onto each other. Also, since it is essentially a craft project kit, I had to kind of have to jury rig the cord by adding a little plastic clip (not included) to it at the height that I wanted the lamp to hang at, otherwise, the shade would just be hanging at the socket. I also added some scotch tape to the connection points to the left and right of where the light bulb cord was inserted to reinforce those points and try to prevent them from opening up. Overall, I think this was worth the price, but was much more labor intensive than I expected. If you're not in the mood to be crafty, you might want to consider buying a pre-assembled shade instead of this one.

If you enjoy challenging puzzles...
I love this light shade but holy mother of the Rubics Cube! Even the many you tube videos don't make it that much easier. They need a simple video step by step guide. I'm no sloutch, but it was a frustrating few hours to figure it out. And I couldn't do it again if I tried??? Other then that it's beautiful. GET A GOOD VIDEO IN ENGLISH!

12" jigsaw shade rocks!
I purchased two of these lamps.... One 16" and one 12"...They added a beautiful dimension to my loft apartment and when coupled with the Phillips Hue Lights (colored) they absolutely rock and steal the show. I love all the colors that come through the lamp shade... so many options!!! But they are also nice with just the white light...It comes with all the necessary components to put it together and use right away. The 16 inch came with a part that I could wire into the ceiling so I just purchased a separate long cord to be plugged directly into the wall.I will say that the directions on how to assemble the lampshade leaves a lot to be desired especially for a visual like myself. However, I went onto youtube and found a great tutorial where the guy not only explains but shows how it goes together step by step. If it hand not been for that video I might have thrown in the towel. I tried to provide the link in an earlier review but Amazon kicked it back...

Pretty, but attracts dust.
Very easy to put together (especially if you search for the video on YouTube). This model is a permanent installation though, so be aware of that - I ended up buying a separate lamp part so I could hang it temporarily since I'm only renting. One thing to be aware of that detracts from the lamps overall aesthetics is that it is a magnet for dust! I think it must be the static electricity created when I put it all together, but it seemed to draw all of the dust and floating dog fur right out of of the air and onto its surface.

It's a puzzle!
The finished shade is visually stunning. The picture does not do it justice. Assembly is quite challenging. My dexterity and spatial perception were not up to the task but with a little help the shade came together. The order of the pieces at the joints does matter. That is, A overlaps B overlaps C overlaps A may be correct. Then A overlaps C overlaps B overlaps A would not be correct. I assembled the shade in two parts and joined them. This was not perfect because In the end some of the joints ended up "inside out". The kit can be assembled in many ways. The shape pictured has 30 faces with the same symmetry as a Rhombic triacontahedron and looks beautiful. No electrical hardware included nor is there really any good way to mount a cord set, You just kind of stuff the bulb inside and hope for the best. I would not like to try that with an incandescent bulb.

Once you get it, you get it!
UPDATE: We loved the one Jigsaw Puzzle Lamp Shade Kit with 40 Inch Hanging Cord so much, that we purchased two more for the playroom in the basement! Again, we are very happy with these and as stated before, aside from the frustrations of putting them together (which after you've done 3 you can call yourself a "PRO," these are absolutely beautiful and a conversation piece!Aside from the frustrations of assembling the 3D puzzle of lamp pieces, it truly is a beautiful piece. To be honest, it really didn’t take too long to assemble. The instructions weren’t the greatest, but you can see where they’re coming from and get the gist. Once you’ve completed the first two sections, it becomes more apparent as to where the pieces go.Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. The lamp is big enough to make a statement in the room, but not too big to over power it. It seems like it’s made of quality plastic parts and should function and uphold all things “lamp-like,” if there are such qualities. It was easy to install on the ceiling and tie into the existing electrical. My only two issues are the moderate frustration of assembly and that the pendant cover does not completely cover the hole in my ceiling from where the previous light fixture was. Typical junction boxes are on the order of 3.5 to 4 inches and the pendant cover might be a 3 inch diameter. I will have to do something to cover up the exposed hole in the ceiling, but no biggie. Hence the 4 star rating.

Rubber pendant light insert was too small
Tricky to assemble but followed a Youtube video as suggested. Took about 40 minutes. What was unfortunate is that the rubber light canopy itself was not wide enough to cover a standard ceiling junction box, wish I’d read the reviews before ordering because someone else mentioned this. Had to order another pendant kit which cost an additional $25

Can only handle a 40 watt bulb because it’s made with extremely thin plastic.
30 pieces of very thin plastic that I need to assemble myself. I would have been okay with it I guess however the strongest bulb that can be used is 40 watts. That’s way too dim so returning. And I hate building things.
