Hilarious stories about life, the SCA, and everything
The author, as a former king in the Society for Creative Anachronism, presents a unique look into what makes the SCA, the SCA.The book is divided into a number of sections that don't carry on from one to the next - it's possible to flip from chapter 1 to chapter 12 to chapter 6 and not be lost. This makes it a great travel or coffee table book, since reading a section only takes a few minutes. All of the stories are enjoyable. Most are hilarious. A few are even thought-provoking and heartwarming, like Sir Guillaume's story of how he couldn't let down a teenaged niece.Whether you're a long time member of the SCA, a newcomer to the Game, or even just someone who randomly tripped over this book, you really need to pick it up and read it. Great writing, great stories, and a small portion of great advice make this an amazing find!

Fantastic and Funny
This has been on my wish list for a while and I finally bought it. The book is a set of short stories retold from the author's days in the SCA inter spaced with snippets of his take on Medieval history. I had a light knowledge of the SCA from talking with several of it's members, but 'Sir Guillaume' explains any of the SCA specific terms or stations that a layperson may not be familiar with. I laughed out loud at several points in the book and am trying to track down some of his other books right now.

Tell Me A Story, Guillaume!!
I love stories. I love compelling characters, plots, twists, delicious details and anecdotes. Guillaume has all this and more. One great tale after another with a little learning thrown in between chapters, sometimes. My kids and I love to read this in the winter, when Pennsic is far away and SCA events are few and far between. We get to live a little of the Dream in the off-season, thanks to this lovely lovely book!

As an 'outsider' it was a fun look into the SCA
I have only attended 1 SCA event but it was fun and I have enjoyed learning more about the SCA via the internet. I found this book a delightful treat since I am interested in the SCA but have little to no actual contact with active SCA members.

Entertaining if you are in the SCA- or just interested in the SCA
This is a humourous telling of Sir Guillaume's first reign as King of Caid- some ripples of which even were heard up here in the West.I recommend this book for any of the following:Those in the SCAThose interested in the SCAThose thinking about "going for Crown" in the SCA!and those that enjoy some slightly offbeat real-life humour, even if you have never even heard of the SCA.Warning- do not read this book when drinking carbonated beverages! Not quite up to the level of Terry Pratchett, so it only gets 4 stars.Baron Wulfstan Darroldson, OP
